Need some advice on Java's

Looks like the real deal, he is perty.
Don't worry about the pen, i never notice them unless they are stacked with poo from years gone by and they have to live in it.
My place looks like mass amount of birds have been killed with all the feathers laying around, then when it rains they dissapear and everything looks all clean and pretty again.

Heres my almost 2 yr old boy.He has become much tamer since I got him.He was quite skittish at first. I used bananas to make him a little friendlier.

He is a handsome fella Destinduck

He is really gorgeous. Thanks I will keep trying with my chicks. I keep promising pictures but seems when I have someone around I forget. No way can I hold and get pics at the same time with these. When I try to catch them in their pens they huddle in the corner so you can't see anything.

I TAKE HORRIBLE PICTURES AND THE DARN THING WAS SET ON EASY!!!! HOPE THESE WORK. IF NOT I WILL TRY AGAIN. THANKS EVERYONE
He sure looks beautiful is all I can tell you. I'm with zazoose. I just got wood chips down in 3 of the 4 pens, but with the molting and no rain my pens looked pathetic. TODAY it is RAINING

We are in Iowa and are in the worst drought I have ever seen. I think the birds forgot what rain was they were sure making a lot of noise or they were letting me know they were happy too.

Minxfox thank you for all the links. These chicks were given to my granddaughter if they are Spalding mix do you know if they will still have the flighty personality and require the same care as a true Java? I always love your posts and hearing about your peas.

He looks like a pretty good bird to me. I would like to see a full picture though just to see how tall he is if you can get that. He might need a heated shed to stay in durring the winter especially if you get snow.

What temperature do you think the shed would need to be kept at.

I believe it needs to be above freezing, a heated roost would be needed for sure if the temps get below 0 at any time i believe it is their toes and or feet freeze and it can cripple them. i am sure someone that has them or knows of them then they will know more about what they need i have never owned one and never will unless one finds it's way to my place
