hi guys! so i have 5 chicks that are just shy of 3 week old (nh reds & easter eggers if that makes any difference). i live in south florida and i’ve determined that it’s much too hot for them to go outside (80-90°, plus they started panting when i tried to move them to the garage). so keep them inside you say? great idea! but here’s the thing, they don’t seem as happy in their brooding container as they used to be. every time i go check on them they seem SUPER energetic, almost restless, and when i take the “lid” off the top, they IMMEDIATELY fly up and out, and start running all over. only after running around for a bit do they have a more chilled out demeanor. i’m guessing the best move is to take them outdoors for a little “recess” time of sorts, and then bring them back in. does anyone have any ideas/insight?? thanks in advance!

Move them outside, to a safe pen in the shade.

If you think 80-90 is too hot: what temperature is their brooder right now?
I would put them genuinely outdoors, not in the garage, because sometimes garages get even hotter than the outdoors.

You could arrange a bigger brooder space, but I really think outside is best.
