Unlike sebastopols and other breeds you listed, dewlaps cannot maintain weight and grow properly on forage alone, they require concentrated feed (a good poultry food). Also, wazine only covers roundworms. Holderread uses ivermectin to worm, and I have used both ivermectin and valbazen with good results. If he is that emaciated he probably requires separation from the flock and possibly veterinary attention.

Skimping on feed expenses costs you in the health and productivity of your birds in the long run. Also, might consider getting a fecal done.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply, School just started and it has been crazy. I have not weighed him yet, I will tomorrow and let you all know how much he weighs, I talked to Millie Holderread about what could be wrong and she thinks it could be his gizzard the vet felt, but she is not sure. So I am waiting for Dave to call me back and give me his input on what he thinks could be wrong scence the vet told me she does not know much about poultry after she did her "check up"

I did go ahead and worm him so we will see if that helps him put some weight back on. Thanks for helping me and caring about my gander. I feal really bad that I did not discover this problem sooner, I really hope he will pull through it and make a full recovery.

Thanks for updating, I hope you have heard from Dave H. by now and that the worming has helped too. Maybe adding a little corn to his daily feed would help put weight back on, also some goiod vits in his water, but your probably already doing that.

I talked to Millie on tuesday and she said that Dave would call me back that night or the next morning, but I haven't heard back from them, but I do know that they are extremely busy and dont have the time to talk and educate some one on whats wrong with there gander. He is already getting a Dry cob corn, oat and barley mix along with layer pellet. I didnt think about vitamins in the water, what kind would be good for him?

I didnt get to weigh him today as I forgot about the football game tonight, but I did pick him up to see if I could notice a difference in weight and he did feel heavy-er than the last time I picked him up (about a week ago) So I am hoping he is actually getting heavy-er and its not just me wanting to think he is gaining weight. I will be home all day tomorrow so I WILL weigh him and let you know if you would like?

I would move him to a flock raiser from the layer since he oesnt need the extra calcium in the layer. Keep us updated on how he is doing.

I talked to Dave Holderread the other day, he told me that he thinks my gander might have swallowed a small piece of mettal or something and it might have punctured his gizzard, He does not think he has worms or anything like that and he said that that scence geese are alwase eatting dirt he might have some how gotten a piece of mettal So now im not sure if there is anything I can do tofix it . I did put him on flock raiser so I guess we will waite and see.
