Need your help with this chicken. is this respiratory disease? * includes video*

Today she had the eye almost normal, maybe just a bit closed if I looked closely. Shape is still not circular if you know what I mean.

Made the saline solution like prescribed here and applied it, one full seryinge of 100ml to clean it well. I have seen a little of dirt in the eye corner when doing this so tomorrow I will repeat just to be sure. This chicken seems to have its beak open more often than the others due to the heat also. One of the first to suffer from watching her behavior.

Anyway, went to the coop just now, way past chickens bedtime and all is well. 2 eyes open.

But here is another phenomenon. Went to the ones I have inside the dog crate, remember the 2 red stars that are being punished for being bullies? They get along pretty well together, during day time I had one egg there. But when I went there now, I had 2 more eggs so one of them gave me 2 eggs in a single day? But these 2 eggs are a bit unusual, the one on the left is not perfectly round and not the same uniform color across the whole shell as usual. The one on the right is like there is no shell, it is very fluffy egg. What should I do with it? Is it safe to eat?

Those are slab slided and shell-less eggs, and possibly a result of having a virus called infectious bronchitis. That probably is the respiratory disease they have had. If you click on this link and read number 10 and 11:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/common-egg-quality-problems.65923/

For the chicken with the hard open mouth breathing, I would make aure that she drinks plenty of fluids and electrolytes would be good. Watermelon or othe melon would be a good treat.

the egg has a shell although it is very thin. I think it is point 15. from the read it can be due to the infectious bronchitis (although these red stars never really showed problems that I can remember now) or:

they could also have laid soft shell egg due to extreme heat or she just laid it before being mature since I collected 3 eggs from 2 hens today.

is it safe to eat? it has a very thin shell.

regarding the white chickens which seem to be more prone to heat stress, they are eating and drinking, I have been putting ice on the water in the morning and already bought a canvas to make even more shade. both coops are in the sun the whole day and it is very hot inside during day and even during night.

Another update.

The chicken with the closed eye is fine, I think the saline solution helped.

Regarding the red star bullies, since today is a week since they were removed I just tried to put them back into the flock.

The first one attacked one of the others after 1 minute, once again submissive stance and merciless pecking on one white chicken. So this one went right away to the dog crate.

The second red star did the same but it was immediately after I joined her, just like before, another white chicken and merciless pecking when the other was into submissive stance.

The dog crate is away from the flock, they cannot see each other but can hear. What should I do?

This egg just appeared in my plate. What is wrong with it? My wife did not noticed it when removing the shell. Never seen anything like it before.

It may be a meat spot, which is common in some chickens, but especially if they have had infectious bronchitis. Sorry I haven’t seen the last couple of your posts. Yes eating eggs with thin shells are okay to eat. It sounds like you may have to keep the 2 groups separated. It is good that the eye cleared up with saline. It sounds like they are keeping you busy!

Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate all your help.

These chickens are surely keeping me busy, the red stars now are not laying daily like they used to. These days I only have one egg from time to time from both of them. They surely do not appreciate their dog crate and i understand. will try to keep them there for 2 weeks straight and see if this works. They need to stop being bullies.

Remembered that if I cannot make both red stars behave by themselves I can put them those little plastic pieces so they do not see who is in front? What do you think?

As a side note, both yesterday and today I got 11 eggs, only 2 of them are missing to have 100% in a single day. I have seen the easter egger several times in the nest but still no colored samples. This only occurs from time to time right?

No, I only have one Easter egger and not even sure she is laying already. Just seen her in the nest but sometimes she gets out without any egg layed and does not go back.
