This makes me angry. People can be SO mean to innocent animals! THANK YOU for taking care of them as best as you can.

Maybe someone found her in there, and thought the same thing as you did. "oh no helpless animal all by it self, I should help her!" pulled her out and took her home. That would make sense to me, and if the door was so hard to get open, then I don't see a predator getting in.
Or like posted before, someone let her out because they couldn't help her. Call her and shake her feed at night, hopefully she will come if she is neat by. Maybe even post something on FB saying you found her and are wondering if someone tried to help her, by taking her. Then you will at least know what happened to her, even if they don't want to give her back.
I'm so sorry this happened, it makes me think person if the door was so hard to open. Hopefully you find her soon. Good luck! Keep us updated! This is a huge bummer, I'm so sorry.

I just read this thread.

My utter sympathies, I was horrified at first but thank goodness there are people like OP in the world. I hope you find her, but if you don't we are all hoping she went to a good place either in chicken heaven or on this earth.

If you have any other questions, we're here for you.

Thanks this won't be my last time I go to the bogs each day today I found another ded roosters in the river I feel so angry at them people just so much animal crulity just becouse they are roosters ,old hens ,or too much to care for if I could just help as much chickens as I can but I find most of them ded(my hunting dog finds the chickens and barcks I've trained him not to kill)

When I was a kid we found a bag full of kittens in a stream. We were visiting relatives and they took them.
That’s so sad! Like everything else on this thread, it makes me feel awful that things happen to poor animals, when there are much better option. My personal rule is to always have a backup option if I just can’t take care of pets that I own. Like giving them to a friend instead of tossing them in a river. It kinda makes me mad that people would do that.
