Neighbor threatening me and another neighbor about chickens

WHAT! And she had the nerve to say what she did?

I'd let her know that if the dog comes over, he won't be returning. And she can just get over the chickens, because you are not in violation of any law or ordinance. If she doesn't like chickens, then she shouldn't have moved there. Period.

Document everything. You and your neighbors should keep a diary of interactions with her. Every threat should be reported to the police.

After a few dozen reports about her threats, they will be less likely to take her seriously if she complains to them about having her dog disappear after turning it loose on your property.

Check your laws. Make sure you can shoot dogs that are worrying livestock. Make sure there is some kind of right to farm that allows you to keep rooster without some silly restriction making it unlawful to crow after 10pm.

Consider buying 50 roosters.

Give her nothing. NOTHING. You and your neighbors should shun her.

I would get a rooster just to spite her, but I am one who when ASKED nicely, will do what I can to accommodate people if possible, but when TOLD to do something, well lets just say I have a bit of a rebellious streak! Out here in the country, they SSS (shoot, shovel and shut up) but I wouldn't do it unless another way couldn't be worked out. I have some expensive horses and if a dog were attacking them, I'd sure shoot it. You can always shoot it with a paint ball gun. Then the dog would go home alive, and with a mark to show your seriousness about protecting your property. JMHO. I am not one to start trouble, but sure won't back down from it either.

Had a neighbor's son, who was also their attorney come to the house once. The father had died and they were concerned that my having 14 horses at the time, right there beside their property would decrease the salability of their home and property. Unfortunately hubby was the one that was home, and he informed them that we were very knowledgeable about the covenants on our land, which state we can have one horse per are. Me, I'd have told him that I'd run right out and buy 2 more since I was 2 below my limit! Some people are just jerks.

BTW, we have a rooster and he never wakes me up and he crows early in the am, pm, or just whenever.

I believe in being cooperative and neighborly ... but, I draw the line at being threatened. Tell this neighbor that you will keep your animals on your side of the fence and she should do the same, as a matter of fact, that will work for the humans as well (even when she's out of town.) Let her look for someone she hasn't threatened to see to her animals.

The only thing I would have said was, "Bring it...".
Tell her when she's paying your mortgage and property taxes THEN she can have a say in what goes on on YOUR property-until then, tell her to mind her own business.

I wouldn't pay any mind to her at all! I would get my rooster and prob more chickens and totally ignore her and if her dogs do come over, call animal control and put in a complaint . I have a neighbor that is a major A hole and I totally ignore him, he called the cops on me for shooting grass on his side of the fence when we mowed the lawn, I laughed in the cops face and said don't you have anything of more importance?, he agreed.....bad neighbors are just fun to mess with.

I would file her threat with the police. Then I would post a sign that stray animals will be shot. Then I would tell her that stray animals will be shot and it's legal to protect your livestock, fair warning. I would also tell her that her threat was filed with the police. THEN I would get that rooster!

She's a bully and will continue to bully you as long as you say nothing. Bullies generally slink back to their hole when confronted.

I really hate people when they want to live in the country, but bring their city-fied beliefs with them.
