I also spent 2 weeks healing Ruby's prolapsed vent, got her 100% healed then let her sit on eggs to continue to healing.

I feel even worse because it was partially my fault. I knew that the holes were too big. I KNEW that. But Grandpa built it for me and I didn't want to complain. The result was that a small hawk squeezed through a hole and killed my favorite chicken. If I would have just said something like "hey! I think a predator could squeeze through that hole." We could have covered it and Nugget may have still been here today.

We learn the hardware from the mistakes. Just like those before us had terrible things happen we learn from it but still make our own mistakes along the way. Mine was getting complacent but now I'm on high alert again. I want cameras IN the run/coops, I want cement and fort knox.

The eggs are cream Legbars & OE legbar/Maran mixes.
I currently have 6week old
1 Black splash Maran
1 Blue/splash Easter egger
4 Gold lace Wyandottes
1 buff Orpington

I still want:
Speckled Sussex
Silver laced Wyandotte
Welsummer
Blue copper marans
Various Orpingtons

I choose mostly for egg colors but I like various mixed breeds.

I'll snap some pictures of the 3 week old babies Ruby sat on from the flock.
Then there is 1 Cream leg bar
and 1 what they label Rhodebar but others have said it's not actually a rhodebar.

So I have chicks coming out my ears but won't likely see eggs anytime soon.

I also like dual purpose even though we haven't processed any chickens ourselves yet. We are still working up the nerve.

Really all the Bantams are adorable!
