Neighbor's dog trying to dig under fence

Our neighbor has two labs, and they are digging machines. We used rebar to help in places of repeated digging. We used 2 ft pieces and drove them down as far as we could, then spaced them about 8 inches apart. Just make sure you aren't over any wires or sprinkling systems.

That is an interesting idea, sounds easier than trenching. Hoping we can just do a spot treatment. Not exactly sure what their landscaping is like on the other side but I don't think the entire fence line is "diggable", as it seems localized to one area.

Didn't speak with the neighbors yet. Noticed they did actually fill the hole back in last night, so at least it appears they are aware of the digging.

You can buy 2 ft sections of rebar at big box store like home depot.

At least the neighbor is aware and acting.

Dogs don't have the receptors to taste capsicum. The peppers won't affect them.

Don't confuse taste receptors with pain receptors, we as humans can't 'taste' capsicum either, the burning 'hot' experience when we eat it is a pain receptor reaction not a taste... Thus the reason we feel the same 'hot' experience going in as well as going out, where taste buds are not present

Dogs do in fact have capsicum pain receptors just like most all mammals, their pain threshold will vary by individual just like it does by humans...

Chickens on the other had along with most other birds can actually taste capsicum, and they lack the pain receptors so they experience no pain or discomfort from it, they just experience the slight vanilla taste...

I think you should go talk to the neighbors anyhow so they're aware it's not just a matter of inconvenience if their dog happens to get through. Maybe if they help reinforce the area their dog is digging at on their side, along with you keeping an eye on your side, the problem can be fixed or at least kept in check with minimal fuss. The worst thing would be to talk to them after something's happened.

the only other suggestion is to dig down on your side of the fence about 2 -3 ft

and place a hard metal horse panel fence section. it's solid enough that a dog can't tear it, push, or fit though it. Panels come in 16 ft long 5 or 4 ft high and can be cut to size. once placed in the ground bury it.
