Not sure if anyone's recommended this but coop and pen under lock and key now. Cameras. Checking the pen to make sure nothing was scattered around. I'd even keep the food in the house so it can't be tampered with.

I would install security cameras if you haven’t already, and mention you installed security cameras, but say it was for another reason. Like say you spotted a fox or something near your coop, and you want to keep an eye out for it. If they know you have security cameras, they shouldn’t try anything. If they know they would get caught doing something, they probably won’t do it. It’s better to tell them so they don’t try anything then to have security cameras without their knowledge and they try something.

I'd just set the cameras and keep quiet.
Fighting 'fire' with 'fire' just makes a bigger fire.
Retaliatory action takes you down to their level,
not sure that's where you want to be.

After the threat of the Paxo Chicken Stuffing box, I'd file a police report.
Just to have one on file.
People's actions are more erradict lately and doing/saying the things mentioned in your post, are valid concerns.
Those events are valid enough to warrant a police report for the record. The cameras you placed might bring some peace of mind but, when people are mentally unstable, a little extra might be needed.
You shouldn't have to live in a state of worry. Write everything down, keep notes of dates and times of events and encounters, puctures too.
It sounds like your going to need them in the future.

Maybe it's time to hunt around on the net for recipes that include dog meat, print them out and stuff it in their mailbox.

I would put an electric fence or wire around your yard, so if they trespass they get zapped and leave. LoL
