Nervous about duck noise - what's your experience?

We live in a city neighborhood. We have Welsh harlequins. They can be a little loud, but it's definitely not constant. Just a few loud quacks a few times a day. Otherwise, they make a quiet conversational noise amongst themselves. One of our neighbors really enjoys hearing them and finds the sound relaxing. The others don't seem to mind. Our ducks are fifty feet from the neighbors' houses and we have chainlink fences, so no sound barrier there.

my cayugas were pretty quite, only really got loud when they would see me for the first time in the morning, kinda like a hello and good morning. then they would settle down for the rest of the day.

My Ducks are not as noisy as the Dogs are....Next door they have 3 Dogs that bark lots....I have Calls and they Quack at times...Never to the point of annoying....

Oh the chickens are loud, and it's true they mostly blend into the background and go unnoticed by me. But the duck sound seems to carry. And it's unmistakable and it's great.

If I lived in the city.. and was worried about mad neighbors... I don't know, they certainly aren't any worse than children playing or a dog barking occasionally at whatever.

They're positively silent compared to kids.

Thanks everyone. As a first-time-post-er this response has been great! @Duckworth We are also about 50 feet from our neighbors but with a pretty good sound barrier from the big wooden fence. We are also surrounded by massive oak trees.

We can totally handle some noise here and there, my real fear was constant ::quack-quack::. But it sounds like that's the exception rather than the standard. I'm feeling much more confident about this new adventure! I suppose I also didn't mention that I work from home , so I have lots of time to figure out what works and what doesn't.

If they're quacking constantly you're doing something wrong. Good luck with your new littles!

Yes, they are loud, but it is not constant. Mine quack when they hear my voice or see our dog. Sometime I can hear them from in the house, so they probably saw a neighbor dog or something. I find the sound endearing. No complaints from the neighbors (and we are quite close).
