Mine like privacy. I put curtains in front of all my nesting boxes.Do the nesting boxes need to be in a privacy setting? I was told that they want privacy when laying.
A lot depends on what you want them to do in the nest box.Do the nesting boxes need to be in a privacy setting? I was told that they want privacy when laying.
They don't need 'privacy'... that's a human thing.....they do need to feel 'safe' tho.Do the nesting boxes need to be in a privacy setting? I was told that they want privacy when laying.
Chickens will choose the spot to lay their eggs. If they don't like your "nesting boxes" they won't use them. I agree with @aart that they don't need privacy, they just was to feel comfortable and safe. I leave my coop door open, so my girls get no privacy but they seem to love the boxes!

Very cute helper you have there! No privacy in mine. They are under the poop board and next to the pop door. Down low so my helper can get the eggs for me
