can i go back to bed too??? someone else can walk the kids to school???

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! when it's 42 degrees out and windy and overcast, it's not smart to go out in just a flannel nightgown...
i did have my boots with the lambs fur inside on though.. rofl....

i gave in and brought the 5 week olds in.. they are in the downstairs bathroom in the bathtub since it has the sliding doors...
my chicken area doesn't have a building for a coop yet... but the older chickens are all running around the yard like nothing is out of the norm.... the poor little guys, who have been fine the last 2 days when it was this cold, but maybe not humid and windy?, were piling up in between the hay bales and the crate that they spent the night in with my gimpy rooster... i tried to put them back in the crate because it's got 2 blankets over it and there were no drafts in there... but they kept coming out and going back into the middle and piling up and shivering...

one of these days i'll have a real coop for them all.. lol...

but i just looked out the window, and 11 chickens and 3 mallards are hanging out under the pineapple palm tree... there's enough of the branches hanging down that it's pretty much like an island hut.... i can see them well wnough to tell that their feathers aren't even being rustled... lol... i knew they'd find a place to hang out out of the weather.. and i'm glad i left the branches on that one where i did... the peacocks like ot hang out under there too so i had left it for them to kinda hide them.. and then when i moved the chickens to the back half the property, they decided they like it too...

anyway.. i'm rambling.. i need to go see if i have enough warm clothes to bundle the kids in so we can walk to school....

again, be safe up there in the snow...

and yes, budkingston, congrats on your graduation!!!!!!!
if i got the information correct he should have had his graduation over the weekend.. and he'll take his tests within the next couple of weeks... good luck!!

One nice thing about the snow, all the schools are closed. Course most everybody has to go to work anyway.
Congrats Budkingston!!! That's awesome! So no more commuting to Vegas? My whole family is from Arizona. Miss the beautiful sunsets there!!!
Happy Birthday HorseFeatherz!!! I loved my 40s. Be proud! Don't ever apologize for being in your 40's, it's a great decade!!!
Evonne! I'm still waiting on that hot cocoa! Too much snow to drive to the store and get myself some. My fax # is 775 787...

Here's pics from my back door...

The coop is about 15 feet behind the swing there. Should I let them out in this mess? There's no snow under the coop.

rofl.. i LOVE the pic of the snow on the bench... maes you realize how much is there... having it on tops of buldings and stuff you don't get a good basis of how deep it really is...

it's overcast and cloudy and cold still here.. they said probly no rain in the valley, but the mountains will probly see snow...

i tried to fax the hot cocoa, but i think i broke it when i poured in the hot water....

I'm still laughing at that one evonne!!!
Really if it's going to be this cold anyway it might as well snow. Snow's easier to drive in than ice. Be careful out there this evening! All the melted snow from cars etc (too cold to melt by itself) is going to freeze again tonight and driving will be a mess! The city has the right idea, closing everything down today. Well they left us the fire dept and the police stations. Thanks to all our public servants for all the hard work they do even in these messy conditions. Thanks also to the mail carriers, the snow plow drivers, etc, etc...... You guys/gals ROCK!!!
