Nevadans?

It was - 18.8 degrees here this morning. It is official - I am a horrible chicken keeper - atleast two roos with frost bite. Poor boys. One is my Splash Orp and the other my Splash Rosecomb. Thankfully everyone made it thru the night.

And I was complaining about -2 degrees! Wow. I'm not surprised about HorseFeatherz getting more snow than us (you're a little higher in elevation there) but gaited horse got 18 inches in Fernley? That is really impressive! I measured 14 inches around the coop but only 11 inches on the deck (house is probably blocking the deck some).

Well, actually I can do without your super hot summers. We usually never get up quite as high in the summertime as you all do. Usually I prefer the heat but the snow sure is pretty! Although right now it sounds like a swat team is invading my house! I finally gave in and turned the heat up and the icicles are melting and pelting the ground and the first story roof. It's making quite a racket! Scared me at first...

evonne found me on another thread and said I should come on over. I live in Vegas and have just started keeping chickens again. We had some in Southern Utah 20+ years ago. I'm pretty sure that I have spoken to ke_ben on the phone about his chickens. I really wanted some of his Marans and some Welsummers. He gave me some much needed good advice too. Great to know that there are so many of us out here.

lol.. you were after the same birds of his that i wanted.... i just couldn't get it into the budget... having hard enough time feeding what i have.. let alone feeding more and paying money to do it.. lol...

he was awsome on the phone with me answering questions too...
