They are out there. You're taking the right step by signing up to receive listings, and already having a broker helps, too. I was on this one the day the listing came out, and had my broker start the ball rolling immediately.

There's a small ranch supply right near my place - it's run by one of my neighbors. I really like that I'm able to give him the business, plus it is very convenient for me - less than 5 minutes away. It's right on Hwy 50, but I can't remember what he calls it though. The feed he sells is called Farmer's Best.

ETA: Kim if you clik that link there is a dealer locator on the right side of the page. I just looked and there are 4 or 5 in the Modesto area. You might want to check it out!

Well, it turns out Greens Feed by me sells Farmers Best. They came up on the dealer list. I will have to ask when I go in next.

I have a ton of sacks, a raised bed and a few started plants and have absolutely nothing done. I keep saying since friday is the last day of school here, I'll start getting to things next week, but I'm exhausted just thinking about all the graduations this weekend through the 9th. Nice to have a big family till it comes to holidays like Christmas, birthdays and graduations one on top of eachother.

I had 3 chciks stuck in their shells so of course I went in to help. The Phoenix was already dead and the other 2 are so weak I doubt they make it. I have a shipped egg that hatched which has rarely happened arounf here for a while, but I have to try to figure out where I got it and what it is. I thought it was a Leghorn, but it's huge and bigger than the other chicks. Some of which are days old, so IDK.

Yes, it's Pam.....so as for the broodies. Here's how it has gone so far. One decides to go broody, we'll call her #1, her friend joins her in the laying box next door, we'll call her #2. Broody #1 remains the most devoted to her nest, even blocking #2 from getting back on her eggs after we put wire up so the chicks wouldn't fall out of the nest. Broody #2 had to squeeze past #1 so she chose the new eggs laid that day. I put #2 back on her eggs and ironically, her eggs were the first to start hatching but #1's eggs followed by the afternoon. #2's chicks were out from under her periodically but #1's stayed tucked under her so I had no idea how many she had but she did have at least 5 when she lifted to get one of her stays back. By day two the chicks were moving about more and evidently, over night two all the chicks moved to #2.....and so did #1. All of them in a 12"x12" laying box. There were a couple of broken eggs with perfectly formed chicks in them but they were stepped on and didn't make it.

So day three I move everyone into our grow out pen instead of the planned stall in the barn because there was too much hay and other stored stuff the chicks could get stuck behind. They abandoned the remaining eggs which I found a couple more opened eggs of perfectly formed chicks but had been neglected due to the new chicks (an incubator would have come in handy here to hatch out the remaining eggs).

Now #2 has taken all the chicks and #1 has been in and out of the grow out pen but she's sad. As I mentioned last night she went back in and tucked right under #2. Today I let them all out into the run (blocked off from the rest of flock out free ranging). #2 still remains the main mom and #1 does more guarding of the area then interacting with the chicks, although she does have 3 that will respond to her clucking call announcing she has a goodie, but essentially she's not needed....unless 11 is too many for one mom to keep adequately warm. Anyone who's still with me and knows if I can break #1 back to the flock or is she needed to keep the chicks warm at night.

Nice! I didn't realize when you were asking if anyone had sacks that it was those you were looking for. I'm going to stop throwing those sacks away!
