Nevadans?

HHHH! I want a lav orp SO BAD!! Does she have any left?

Mark and I have decided to fence off a portion of the yard for the birds. We would like to work on the yard and the garden next year and also want to repair and paint the deck. It would be impossible to do anything with the birds having free reign. Granted they will still have more than enough space. They will get most of the perimeter of the yard and we will get the inside. We will fence off under the deck and they will still be allowed access to it. It provides a great amount of shade and cOol dirt in the summer. So mark and I will be on the lookout for reclaimed posts and fencing wink wink wink

Hi There!
I'm going to post this in the other thread "what gender" as well, but wanted to participate in my local Nevada thread as well. I'm thinking our Black Austrolorp from CalRanch whom we named Tinkerbell, might be a Tinker "dude"? I'm so new to chicken owning, she/he is about 8 weeks old. What do you guys/gals think? the second pic is trying to get the back, but you can also see my other lovely ladies as well. I'm just loving the Chicken Craziness. My daughter loves them to!

Thanks!

I thought so..... and such a lovely/friendly little one! Always runs up for treats, lets me hold him! As long as I don't end up with too many roosters or problems in my flock...he's a keeper... good 'ole Tinker Dude! We shall see how our events unfold!

Thanks!

OK, I scored big time today! I had called GitLost80 a while back (turns out it was about the time she was having her baby) to get some more lav orps and maybe another frizzled cochin and she calls to say she just found my message and is getting rid of all her lavender orps!!! I just went and picked up 3 older pullets and three babies and I also got a cochin cockerel that I can make frizzled cochins when mated to my frizzled cochin girl (in the above pics). I am so excited!!!!!

Wow, wasn't she doing a pretty successful breeding program? I'm pretty sure I saw some of her babies on Craigslist, but don't know how well they sold.

So uh... if you need someone to take a frizzled pullet off your hands in the future... you know... just saying.

The butt says girl but the wattles say boy.

Aubrey, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe just fencing off my patio, and letting them have the rest of the yard. They're so addicted to dog food that everyone has to really watch when they close the door. And they like the nice cool concrete... not that I blame them... but now there's lots of poop that doesn't get scratched into the soil and raked up.

Yeah it's going to be a big and expensive project but it will be well worth it. I just need to try and keep it in my budget somehow. Wish there were stores that sold used wood and wire!
