Yay they cOntacted me back! I'll hopefully be driving over there tOmorrow and digging it up! I'm so excited ;D I feel like a got a pretty good deal here. I went to home depot tonight and looked at things. One 50 ft roll of chain link costs this much alone. So 100 ft worth plus posts, hardware, and gate is going to be well worth the drive to south lake. They look to be in pretty good condition too. Here are the pics they had on CL. I also did some measurements and I think this amount is going to cover exactly what I need it to. Boy are the girls gonna be MAD AT ME! Back when we moved into the place the front yard was full o gravel. Mark moved it all into the backyard. I told him not to put it where e did because I was going to want to put a pen there someday, but he didn't listen. Fast forward however many years and it is the ONE part of the yard the chickens refuse to go. I don't blame them, it's rocky and they can't scratch around. But crud, now I get to spend a good chunk of time moving that gravel AGAIN Missy if you need another punishment for the boy, I've got a GOOD one!!!! Hahaha Here is a headless chicken.

the kids' soccer game was cancelled tomorrow due to an unsafe field condition of too many wasps and mosquitoes. is it bad that I'm not really disappointed about it?

I do enjoy watching them play soccer but it's a hassle to go every saturday

OK, I scored big time today! I had called GitLost80 a while back (turns out it was about the time she was having her baby) to get some more lav orps and maybe another frizzled cochin and she calls to say she just found my message and is getting rid of all her lavender orps!!! I just went and picked up 3 older pullets and three babies and I also got a cochin cockerel that I can make frizzled cochins when mated to my frizzled cochin girl (in the above pics). I am so excited!!!!!

oh, lucky you! put me down for some frizzled cochins when you breed them. that little frizzle is so cute!

I'm going to post this in the other thread "what gender" as well, but wanted to participate in my local Nevada thread as well. I'm thinking our Black Austrolorp from CalRanch whom we named Tinkerbell, might be a Tinker "dude"? I'm so new to chicken owning, she/he is about 8 weeks old. What do you guys/gals think? the second pic is trying to get the back, but you can also see my other lovely ladies as well. I'm just loving the Chicken Craziness. My daughter loves them to!

the shape seems like a girl but the bright red comb and wattles at that age seem to indicate rooster. I looked back at my australorps at about that age and the combs and wattles were pale and small.

I just found Harmony. She crawled under the feeder and her bill got stuck under the frame of the run. RIP my little Harmony!
