Nevadans?

Hahaha missy! Geeze you crack me up..

Lacy it's soooooo resiculous! I do have family out there who has tried to go see her. BT rescue of Oregon is trying to save this girl, I am just the foster home. I guess BT Rescue of SoCal put a commitment to adopt on her and it's been three weeks and they haven't picked her up! (I guess this is a notoriously bad rescue). So we are trying to get the shelter to just relinquish her to our rescue because if SoCal doesn't get her by thanksgiving she could be put down. Fortunately also though we have a lady waiting on the phone call from the shelter saying that her CTA is up and that she has one day to be released...

I can get you eggs I you can incubate them or have a broody! The only thing is that I can't guarantee if my silkie or showgirls have been mating with the showgirl rooster or if they have been mating with the sultan. I'm kind of experimenting now

We have a chick that hatched a few months ago that is half silkie half sultan... He is REALLY cute, I'll take a pic tonight. We named him chompy because he was born the same day as Bedbug. Turns out the name was appropriate- he bites EVERYTHING!

I'll have to look for that special. Hopefully it's on Netflix!

Re: cookie exchange. I'm not much of a baker, but I might just give it a try. You'd think it would be right up my alley since it's all formulas but... When is this soirée?
Yep baking is just chemistry and math. Even the way I bake, where I am always changing recipes, is just a little more math. When my students used to complain, when we got to the chemistry section, that is what I always told them. "You can't hate chemistry, chemistry is everything! You can't even bake a cake or taste pizza without chemistry!" I have to admit, however, the periodic table is hard to make interesting. Even I had a hard time selling that one (yawn). The chemistry experiments were a blast though.

The soirée is on the 8th @ 2pm unless we get snowed out. Then it will be on the 15th.

UGH well it has been a nightmare. She is not on the mend yet. Turns out the timing belt malfunctioned which caused the spark plugs to explode out of the head and actually stripped it, so the head will have to be taken to a machine shop to be re-threaded. The only guy in town mark trusts (because he is a volkswagen guy) cant get to it until this weekend, so since this happened last weekend and i just started woking in south reno we decided to get the ghia going so that i would have something to drive.
So we bought tires for the ghia and spent all day at the dmv re-registering it and went to test drive it after putting on the new tires and the lo and behold we pull out of the driveway and the brakes failed. Had to spend all weekend working on the brakes but finally got it going late sunday night.
Drove home yesterday evening after a ten hour shift and i got in an accident on the freeway in marks car. (got rear ended but wasnt bad damage at all). Got off the freeway and the battery cables had gotten knocked loose so i couldnt start the car at all and had to get taken care of to get home.
So we fixed the ghia again last night but I had too much anxiety about driving marks car and having something happen to it in my care so i opted to get a ride with the only other person i worked with who had to be at work 2 hours before me making my total workday 12 hours.....
and again tomorrow and friday, yeesh.

sorry to complain, i have never had car problems, and i have seriously never had all these things happen at once!!! Anyway my head should be taken care of this weekend and then we will have to find the further damage from there. The valves could be bent badly but i just dont want to think about it until we get to that point. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! (and all in the first week in two years that i have had to work farther than bicycling distance from my house)

And now we are trying to save this dog in Los Angeles from being put to sleep and we have BT rescue of Oregon backing us to pull her but the shelter is being extremely difficult and i will just not ever forgive myself if she gets put down due to red tape and massive mistakes!

Im such a mess lately, hahaha
Oh Dear, Aubrey! You really have been through it lately! I've always driven used cars so I'm used to cars breaking down. When I was young my Dad always said "put away $25 a month for car repairs (ahem, this was a very long time ago). You won't spend $25 every month but you'll have it there when everything goes wrong all at once. And it always seems to come at once. Cars never space out their repairs for a nice, neat, monthly repair bill." Boy was he right on that one!

I sure hope you get that dog but you can't blame yourself when you tried to do everything you could! I know you already know this. Sorry, this isn't helping at all is it?

Yep, I think that's when I finally "got it" when it came to cooking. When I could just remember a recipe by a few key ingredients, and the rest fell into place because... that's just what happened with those ingredients! Bread ingredients became interchangeable as long as you had an oil, a yeast, a sugar, a liquid, a salt, and a flour.

OMG! I just found out you can use the mobile version of BYC for slow connection speeds! It is SUPER fast compared to the desktop version I've been fighting with for the last 5 months!!! I had no idea the mobile version could be used on the laptop. hahaha!

Oh, I see I can't access smileys from here though. OK going into smiley withdrawals...
