Separate her ASAP. Someone plucked them out and once they saw blood kept plucking. Clean her up really well then let the blood coagulate and form a scab. I you can, go to the feed store and get some blu-kote to apply to the bloody part. I'd let it heal a little bit before putting her back but definitely make sure it's got some kote on it before putting her back. The blue color will help keep them from pecking at it more... She will be alright

Excellent advice. We had a baby pigeon in the same condition about a week ago. I cleaned the wound with iodine and figured it would be alright since I've heard so much of it and how good it is. Well, a scab formed but under it, it got infected. Usually I mix up a warm salt water solution and spray it forcefully onto the wound to clean it. Guess I learned my lesson. To spray forcefully, you might use a dental syringe or a spray bottle set on "stream." You'll need someone to hold her.

Sunny, what time are you thinking? I'm working from 12-8:30pm that day but if we change it to December 1st then I'll be off. I'm taking vacation time.

2pm. That way even if we get weather it isn't as likely to be a problem mid-day. The first doesn't work for Steve and I but we could do it on the 15th instead if that works better for you? That was gonna be my backup date anyway in case the weather didn't cooperate on the 8th.

Today I got to tell my daughter, "If you use a piece of camouflage duct tape to fix a hole in your stretch pants, you might be a redneck. You can't go to school like that. Go change."

LOL! Our oldest son went through a whole duct tape phase. He wrapped everything in it and swore anything could be fixed with duct tape. I have to admit, as much as his shoes cost and as often as we had to buy new ones, we kinda just let him patch them up and go. It saved us money and it was a harmless phase as teenage phases went. He still takes a lot of pride in being a minimalist.

This is very cool. Might need to rig one up for the summer.

looking forward to the cookie exchange. i just ordered a krumkake iron so I will have a go at making those. they are a delicate norwegian cookie. look like kind of like little waffle cones but much tastier. Not sure what else I will make yet.

Oh yes! I've seen his work many times! Beautiful. Wasn't he the one that went around the country (spent quite a bit of time in the Appalachians) taking pics of working class folks? Got a lot of great pics of folks that lived pretty hard lives (I'm way underemphasizing the poverty these folks lived with). Somehow he captured a beauty that most would not have seen. Really awesome artist! I saw a special on him. I believe it was on PBS but it could have been the history channel.

Are you coming to the cookie exchange? Steve and I would love to see you there.
