Nevadans?

Missy I am going to talk to Mark about doing an order. We have way too much space to waste another year not having a garden. Now that the birds are penned in we really have no excuse.
Also, if ever you were looking for a garden #3, i know were sort of far, but youre more than welcome to take up some space here! We spent a huge chunk of change when we lived here the first time getting the soil to be really good gardening soil. We bought mushroom mulch and horse manure and even a rototiller, haha. anywhoo, yeah, were gonna get on it this year...

YEAH! We would love to use any space you're not going to. Or we could just garden it all together (I probably couldn't make it up every day to water, but could start all the seedlings and put it all in) and we could share the produce.

Chicken picks, anyone?

Feeding frenzy! Of course, Original is queen of the feeder.

Paella, my splash andalusian. Her comb is so big that her head is constantly cocked to the side. Kind of like a teenager who needs a haircut, but it's not cool, so they keep trying to peek under their hair. She needs comb reduction surgery, or something.

Paella, twisting her head to the side to eat:

This is Peking, one of the Welsh harlequins I got from Craigslist. The other one is a lot more golden.

Remember Pot and Pie, my two adopted mixed chicks that I gave to Sour to break her broodiness? For awhile I thought Pot might be a rooster. I think we're safe!

That is a breed characteristic. The females have good sized combs and they fall to one side. Hopefully it's not so big it blocks her view straight ahead. Looks like she got some nice splashing for you.

How did the blue one turn out?

Very pretty as well! I'll try to get more pictures today. She was giving me an egg while these were taken. She's more timid than the splash, but still very striking.

Happy New Year to Everybody!

We stayed up late (for us old folk) to watch the fireworks on the Strip from our back porch and decided the view was better (and warmer) in the living room on the TV. It was COLD! The fridge's weather station thingie is predicting snow today, which I find incredible considering there's not a cloud in sight.

Anyway, stepped outside at 9:00 this morning and was amazed at the stillness.... Guess everyone's sleeping it off.

Wishing everybody a healthy and prosperous 2013.

p.s.
This was on the NYD Hatch Contest thread and it was just too good not to share....
