Nevadans?

I broke down and put a heat lamp in the coop! My special chicken lights have a nice wire guard that keeps the light away from wooden surfaces. I'm giving it a trial run today, while I can keep going out and checking on it, before leaving it on all night. I know they'll probably be fine, but it's supposed to be 8 degrees tonight! So it's just a low-wattage reptile bulb, but it will add a little.

The silkie will be fine, though. She's figured out how to snuggle up beneath cochin and brahma fluff, and the bigger girls have figured out that it's to their benefit as well.

I love it!

Had my first omelet in weeks this morning. With Pepper Jack cheese. Yum!

Love the snowmen! LOL

Speaking of jewelry ........BTW.....You guys didn't know what lampwork was??????? Sunny, what did you ever make with your feathers and the stuff I sent? Were you able to use everything? I was hoping for pics, or did I miss them??
Shoot! I forgot to take pics. I made earrings for our girls and the boy's girlfriends. They loved them!!! They really did come out so cute. Sorry I forgot to take pics.

I have a box of peacock feathers (the small fluffy ones) that I've cleaned and dried to make more so I'll be sure and take pics of those. Remember I'm a newb so don't expect my jewelry to look like yours!

I have puppies!!!!

Cash and Tango

I have them housebroken and now I', going to find them some great people who will train and socialize, socialize, socialize......Long story why I bought them, but I did it to find them NON Gang homes.Well I bought one and then my daughter Vanessa went back for another one. She got the one I didn't buy, because I didn't want to get attached. CASH! Not that I don't want to keep Tango, because if I lived somewhere with a lot of room I would, but since we're CITY now, only 2 dogs. At least that they can see. :)
So cute!!!
Look what I got last night!!!!!!!

Budgies! So far their names are Blizzard ( The white one) and Emerald ( The green one).
Sorry for the dark picture, but I think the flash would freak them out. ( They are shaking like leaves in a storm)
Awwww, poor things! Hopefully they will adjust soon and not be so nervous in their new surroundings.
Yay! I finally got some eggs!

It's only been about 6 weeks or so since my last ones.
I am so jealous!!! It's been weeks for me too. With all the storms, then all the company coming and going, I haven't gotten the solar light I bought up yet. Hopefully this weekend.
I hear ya Ron, I've been getting one tiny egg for months and yesterday I had 7! Two of them chocolate colored! Weeee!!!
Whoa! Green with envy here!
Chicken picks, anyone?
Great pics! Love the splash girl. Pot and Pie turned out to be beautiful girls too.

I sold 100 Budgies before moving out here. When I met Bill I told him I wanted a ranch and I wanted Chickens again. He kept those chickens on a back burner for years! Anyway I used to raise a lot of different exotics, but I also raised a whole lot of kids. After a while, the birds needed to go. To much work when you have as many as I did and I had anything from finches to Cockatoos, so a lot of messy birds. And the noise!!! OMG!! So I decided I wanted to raise Indian Ringnecks. Bill told me to pick something smaller and show him I could raise them. Silly man! 500+ Parakeets later I told him I did my part, now I wanted the ringnecks and a couple of tyoes of conures. He tells me he's waiting for me to sell more Budgies, so I told him, "LOOK! You said raise something small to show you. I told you that these are cheap birds and anyone can raise them and do. There has to be a market and if you wanna see money, ya gotta spend money." Then my best friend showed him a conure that was in demand and told him that that's what I needed. Didn't get those, but everyone we knew had parakeets after a while. Guess 1k for 2 birds was too much for him. LOL We moved out here and I bugged him for chickens and he kept putting me off. Then I went to the auction one day and came home with a broodie and 2 chicks and OOPS! 2 Guineas! All went downhil for him after that. When I sold my flock and then when we moved to this house, the only reason I didn't complain about this house, is it's 2 short blocks to the auction. The first Monday I came home with 7 chickens. Put them out back and walke din the house and he came home from work and handed me $200 and told me to go to the auction and get some birds until I knew what I wanted for sure. I said "Thanks Baby! We'll be right back, but while I'm gone can you start a coop for the ones out back?" Ran out the door and came home with empty hands, but I made up for it.
