Nevadans?

Hi all!
Looking for PB silkie hatching eggs for the incubator.
We are hatching like crazy and I still have room if anybody wants to rent out space $1/egg...
Pm me!

I would take you up on that offer but all my hatching eggs are taken care of by my friend Julie because I keerp
my pair there.

Do you raise SQ white ams? Or any else?

Sunny- do you have pics of your olive eggers eggs? What generation are they? I would be interested in getting on a waiting list, I would love some hatching eggs. I have not been able to find them they seem to be consistently sold out! Are they one of your best selling chickens?

Hello, posted a long time ago before I ever got chickens. Finally got my first flock. I originally wanted rir's bc my husband and I can go through several dozen a week and like big eggs, but could not find any so ended up with 6 bantams, (my husband said no way to chicks, and I looked for a week on Craigslist, every time I finally found chickens that were at least 6 months old, they were gone before I called!). I am glad I ended up with them though. I had no idea chickens could be so cute! I can't wait to add more to the flock...

Where are the pics?

Holy Chicken Drama, Batman! Is April just unlucky for us? It was April of last year that we had the bronchitis! (Don't worry, no bronchitis so far this year.)

...snip...
Tonight: I go to lock up the chickens just before 9pm and notice Tapas, my blue Andalusian, missing. She's never gotten out of the yard. I got the flashlight and looked all over the block, mostly up high in roosting areas, but there's no sign of her. I think a raccoon got her. Maybe a raccoon got Strip, too? Though I noticed her wound at about 6pm.
Is there someplace she could be hiding UNDER?

I thought raccoons took their heads off and ate their insides out but other than that should have left a feather trail or something?

If you keep having trouble with Strip's wound, you could close it with stitches. If it keeps coming open, you may have to trim the edges of the wound so that they can heal back together. When I've had to give stitches, I just use a cotton sewing thread as I don't have any cat gut sutures hanging around. You can't take the stitches out but once the wound is completely healed, you can take a pair of nail cutters or scissors and cut the ends as close to the skin as you dare. Her body will absorb the thread that is beneath the surface. Oh, before using the thread, I soak it in alcohol too, just to be safe.

Good news: this morning, my blue andalusian was outside the coop door, impatient for the others to come out.

Strip is doing good so far. I'm going to have my husband buy some more bandages and some butterfly strips tonight, and I'll take the Band-Aid off and take a look. I've been dribbling betadine onto it.

Have you tried that Vetricyn stuff? It is amazing stuff.

To get 100% blue chicks you need splash and black.  If you cross splash and blue you will get 50% of each.

What breed splash rooster are you looking for?

I think I was a little Overzealous with my reply; yes black and splash. I am looking for a splash Orpington roo. I also am thinking of getting into the lavendar orps, I think the Roos are so beautiful and I love that they breed true.
