Nevadans?

Laid up with a stretched ligament right now. It was snowing pretty good up here Monday morning and the puppies had dug a hole in their pen right in front of the gate that Steve had filled in with cement blocks... Well apparently they dug a new hole next to the old one and the snow covered it perfectly. Yep down I went, scraping my ankle on the way down against those concrete blocks til I hit bottom full force, twisting it as I hit. Never saw it coming and I went down so hard and fast there was no time to grab anything or react at all.

I'm not allowed to put weight on it for a few days but I can hobble around a bit with crutches. I've decided crutches were a lot more fun when I was a kid and weighed 60lbs. It's a lot harder to pull myself around on them now.

. I won't be on them long though. These kind of things always heal pretty fast for me. Just hard to be take care of critters with them,

OK, done whining. How's everybody else doing?

Aw, that's not what I always heard about Reno

I can't post what I've heard about Reno. ROFL

OK, seriously. I have a problem. I'm getting tons of eggs I need to sell. I have lockdown on 3 hatches right now, so I can't set anything. I did one auction on the 24 hr thread, sold some on FB and I still have eggs and a few days more eggs coming before I have space. . It's a good weekend to get good prices from me right now, cause usually I ain't cheap. Requardless of what's been said about me!

Just thought I'd mention.

Sunny - it's not bed bugs 100%. I had an exterminator come inside twice searched high and low everywhere possible. He said not a bug in sight. You can't see these bugs unless you look at them with a magnifying glass. The exterminator said they were too small to see with the naked eye but not one bed bug. Here's a site about bird mites: http://birdmites.org/ and the state said they can't grow to the next stage feeding on humans but in the mean while your being bitten all over your body and pulling bugs out of places I won't mention but let's just say it's extremely gross. Missy helped me tons emotionally with this and with the prayers too. Every place I researched said you must get rid of the source and every exterminator I called except for one refused to come and check my house because I have chickens and ducks. They said once I get rid of my birds then they will treat my house except for this one company who told me to call them once the state calls me and tells me what they are exactly and then he'll treat if he needs to but now I'm not having any issues at all. Who knows.

That's what I always tell people when they ask if I am free - I say no, but I'm a real bargain!

It has been a while since I have been here... Need advice on when to put baby chicks out into the big, bad world. I have 5 chickies I got at Greens Feed during their annual buy a bag of starter, get 5 free chicks on March 2nd. So the chicks are about 6+ weeks old. They have been in my garage with a warming light. Turned the light off yesterday. Now trying to decide when I can move them outside. Any ideas? Thank you! Carol

If you just turned the light off yesterday, I'd wait a few days to put them out. Especially since the weather is going to get a little colder in a few days. In the summer, I had my baby chicks outside at 6 weeks (or sooner.) When I did March/April chicks, it was more like 8 weeks, carrying them inside at night for 2 weeks. Plus the inside/outside journey helped me bond with the chicks and all those that went through that with me are the sweetest I have.

Here is a few...my phones camera is not that good though.

My horse likes to watch them...and yes this one part of the fence isn't very adequate, we fixed it... (all other 3 sides of the fence are 6 feet+ tall)

The girls enjoying a bowl of oatmeal!

I am surprised, when I was researching bantams I didn't think they laid so many eggs. I have 6, and I usually get at least 4 a day.
Cute!!!!!!! How old are they?

Depends on what temperatures you have... I'd introduce them slowly. The first time, just put them in a pen outside in a nice sunny spot for a few hours, see how they react. If they're fine with it, leave them out for one more hour the next day. And so on until you're leaving them out all day. When a warm night comes around, stick them in the coop for the night. Anyway, that's what I say, got the info from a book called chick days. My partner in crime. That is, chicken-raising.

Oh!...Sunny so sorry to hear about your ankle. Take care and don't do to much. Know what it is like when something hurts. Threw my back out last Oct. Was laid up for weeks and had to have therapy...not fun.

I know I was a little sensitive over what Cindi-Lu said, but I have told people I live in S/S and they say, "Oh the hell hole of Nevada" so I probably over reacted. I really didn't mean to be smart... just defensive. I hope she will understand.
