If they're fully feathered and you put a heat lamp out there over their little partition, they should be perfectly fine... even with snow in the forecast, if you keep the coop closed so they aren't getting the wind that will likely attend the snow.

That's what I always tell people when they ask if I am free - I say no, but I'm a real bargain!
I agree with Lacy (no e), but I don't think you even need a heat lamp - a 100-watt bulb (if you can get one that is) will do just fine, especially if the coop is small.![]()
Can you move the temporary coop that is in the garage out into the coop? Or if you have a section of fencing, you could just fence off a corner as long as its high enough that they can't get over and out with the big girls and the mesh is small enough that they can't get through.Ron: I can do that I just won't have a temporary coop to put out in the run - the temp coop is what they are in in the garage - I will put my thinking cap on and come up with something... I'm pretty inventive...
Sorry to say I have bad news this morning. I woke up to Leroy crowing at 6am, at 6:15am I heard a very loud thump. I went outside and saw Leroy laying in the run. Not sure exactly what happened but it looked liked he hit his head jumping out of the coop. I could not have had a better rooster than him. RIP Leroy and thank you for protecting your girls.
