I am surprised, when I was researching bantams I didn't think they laid so many eggs. I have 6, and I usually get at least 4 a day. Cute!!!!!!! How old are they?

Laid up with a stretched ligament right now. It was snowing pretty good up here Monday morning and the puppies had dug a hole in their pen right in front of the gate that Steve had filled in with cement blocks... Well apparently they dug a new hole next to the old one and the snow covered it perfectly. Yep down I went, scraping my ankle on the way down against those concrete blocks til I hit bottom full force, twisting it as I hit. Never saw it coming and I went down so hard and fast there was no time to grab anything or react at all.

I'm not allowed to put weight on it for a few days but I can hobble around a bit with crutches. I've decided crutches were a lot more fun when I was a kid and weighed 60lbs. It's a lot harder to pull myself around on them now. :/. I won't be on them long though. These kind of things always heal pretty fast for me. Just hard to be take care of critters with them,

OK, done whining. How's everybody else doing?

Owach!!! No fun falling after the age of 10! Crutches! What a pain in the arse! Take care of yourself!

So our Marans are coming along. I did a random quick candling yesterday and most of them are developing nicely. They're due on the 20th. Can't wait to see how many I get. Out of my last hatch the Marans hatched first and one right after another and on time! Crossing my fingers these guys do the same.

The only difference between the two hatches will be that I set the Brinsea for the cool down time which simulates the broodie getting off the nest daily. We'll see if I get a better hatch. I had a 71% hatch last time. Crossing my fingers! Falling asleep as I type! Night all

Thank you for the replies about moving the youngsters outside. Unfortunately, slowly introducing them outside is not an option due to schedules. I need to be able to move them outside permanently. I have a pen inside of a pen - I already have 7 big girls and inside that pen I can make a small one with it's own temporary coop until both sets of girls get adjusted to seeing each other. I just need to be sure when I move them - it is a permanent move. I guess with snow possible on Sunday night/ Monday morning I might wait til mid next week...

What do ya'll think?

I think that would be a good idea.

Since the weather is currently good during the day, could you take them out there, let them hang out all day while you're at work, then bring them back in when you're home?
