Nevadans?

Great news Peep but sad as well. I've never heard of the monsoons being so bad like you said, my friend lived in AZ for years and never had anything like it.I agree with ABBA, Prince Herbert.

I met my new neighbor and guess what - she loves chickens!!!! Yay for me. I told her she will be hearing a rooster during the day mostly and I'll be bringing her eggs at times and she said she loves when she hears roosters and fresh eggs.

I went to the doctors today, yes, multiple ones. The skin disease is almost over she said I'm on the other side of this disease. The receptionist there says she has chickens and she was told you can't have roosters in Reno, she lives by Arlington. She wouldn't listen when I told her she can. Oh well. Liver doctor says I'm doing great and he will see me in SIX MONTHS instead of every 2 months. Yay!

Good news on the neighbor, Sheryl!

Regarding the receptionist by Arlington... That's funny. Someone else who lives by Arlington has roosters. I wonder if she hears them and gets all steamed that someone is getting away with it!

Oh, I'm signing the contacts with "The Magazine" this week. I'm so excited! Now we have to buy me a new digital camera, since the last one didn't make it through Tough Mudder.

Yaaaay! Glad to hear the good health prognosis.

The town that I'm in at present (Corrales, NM) got hit particularly bad by the storm. And apparently a couple of drainage ditches overflowed and the holding ponds breached. A lot of people now have lakefront property... And the mud is horrendous almost everywhere. (This is the one time I am grateful for having a time-consuming lawn...I just had leaf debris, not feet of mud as all earth held in place) I've heard on the news that some folks are still without power.

Me? I made use of Mother Nature's drenching and got out into the veggie garden (not gardened in over a year) and cleared out the thigh-high prickly weeds while the ground was still soft enough to pull out the whole root. Made a huge 2x4x6' burn pile, chopped all the suckers off the orchard trees (did you know cherry suckers smell like wet dog?) and managed to fall down a rabbit hole. No fun adventures like Alice in Wonderland, though, but I collapsed a sizable den and getting out of it was like quicksand because there were so many tunnels.

Apparently, according to the neighbors, the last time a storm this severe came through was 22 years ago. Comforting, kinda....

I know it's not a chicken request... But a few sunset shots posted here and there would be cool. Nothing like a NM sunset or the smell of the clay earth after a flash flood... Well... Except a Tahoe storm and sunset;-) lol

The weather as of late has not been conducive to sunsets, but -- at last! -- yesterday we had a Sandia sunset. The Sandia mountains are so named because at sunset they turn a shade of watermelon pink. (Sandia = watermelon) Also got to finally view the stars at night. This may not be "a sunset" per se, but the best I can do on short notice.

Anyone near Dayton interested in imported english orpingtons? I ended up with 75% roosters with my order. These guys came from thefancychick.com (rockinpaints on here). They are free too- cant get better than free!

Don't know if anyone is looking for one, but a friend needs to sell one of the chicks she hatched.

This guy doesn't belong to me, but was hatched from eggs from my flock. 11 week old Cockerel and he just started crowing yesterday, so now she has to sell him. Anyone traveling to California that needs a nice Blue AM roo? PM me if anyone is interested and I'll get you in touch with her. She's in Livermore.
