Nevadans?

If anyone needs dishes for Thanksgiving or whatever reason, my parents just bought new ones and would like to give away their old set. They have two different coloured sets, white and black. There really is not a full set of either colour but if you need extra cups, saucers, plates, bowls, platters.

Here is what they have to give away, you can give us a call at 775-358-1900 if you are interested and want to pick them up. I do not have pictures but they are all in good condition and would be great to supplement for extra guests, etc.

1 white platter,
5 white dinner plates,
7 white bowls,
4 white large saucers,
8 white small saucers,
8 white coffee cups

6 black dinner plates,
8 black large saucers,
7 black coffee cups

Hope someone is able to use them.

Thanks for the garlic update. As for the show, the gal I spoke to said it is Saturday only. They won't be there Sunday.

Nikki! How sweet of you! I am doing my first thanksgiving this year and this post made me realize that I don't have enough plates ( I have sets of four). I was gonna go to ross, but hey- if you've got some I would absolutely be beyond thankful to accept those!! There will be a chicken in it for you...

For Everyone's FYI: The dishes I had mentioned in my previous post have been taken by Aubrey's Thanksgiving. I am really thrilled that they are going to someone who needs them. My Dad was going to use them as target practice if they were not taken soon. heh They do not have a lot of space in the kitchen and he is such a neat freak that he cannot stand for things not to be in their proper place so these dishes have really been bugging him.

Btw, Aubrey's pictures do not do her BO or any of her chickens the justice they deserve. They are so big and beautiful and just regal ladies. This is one of the most beautiful BO's I have seen in a while. Aubrey is an awesome chicken Mama.

Thank you again, she will be taken care of really well.

Sunny - your hens and roos are gorgeous - I really love their full and fluffy muffs and beards! I would like to go in with you on the marens but only want 1 or 2 - same as with your chicks (and hoping they will be pullets) I have a couple of friends who might want some too - I'll check with them. I know I told you early May but I am willing to get them earlier than that - even as early as March - I'm flexible. I'm sorry about your back - it really is awful to have the desire to do something but physically be unable to do it.

I am getting my first very fresh turkey for Thanksgiving. A neighbor has raised about 15 turkeys for Thanksgiving. He called last night and said for me to bring my ice chest and he will fill it up with a fresh turkey! Unfortunately, my dh has to work T'giving day until 6:45 am -7:15 pm but we will save him some.

I am driving to Sacramento today to pick up my granddaughter (age 5) to stay with us for the next week. My oldest daughter (her mom) will be coming up on T'giving. I am very excited to have her here! I'll post a couple of pics later this week.

So is the poultry show on Friday too? I only work half a day on friday (off at 11:30). What are the hours on friday? Really wish I could go this Saturday though. I don't have to work many weekends but I am scheduled this Sat and next Sat.

My lastest issue of "Hobby Farm" has a $5 off for ANY 50-lb. bag of feed at TSC. Well, I am farm-less and chicken-less at present, but seems like too good a deal to waste.

Anybody want it? I'll mail it out.... Actually, do they even have Tractor Supply Co. stores in NV?

I wish they did these things on Sundays, all of my Saturdays are always taken and it is very rare that I am able to do anything outside of family get togethers on Saturdays. Which I am not complaining about the family part, I just wish there were more things on Sundays. It must be a West Coast thing.

I am so elated today. ALL of my girls and guys spent their first official night in the chicken coop last night. The coldest it got inside was 50 degrees compared to the 10 it was outside. They were upset about the "new" change at first but it did not take long for them to settle right in. I wanted to take a bunch of pictures of the before and after but my children have hauled my camera off somewhere and I cannot find the darn thing.

The only birds in the house at the moment are the BO's, SLW, and RIR second batch of chicks that are only 2 weeks old and way too young to be out in 50 degree temps. We picked up these Zoo Med Repticare Ceramic Infrared Heat Emitters lights from Petco yesterday and we are going to hook them up in the baby brooder and see how they do tonight. They do not put off any light but they put off heat and with the ceramic coating they are more efficient and durable than the regular heat lamps. Plus you do not have to worry about messing with roosting patterns, etc.

I put the feed and water in the chicken coop last night with the girls and the water did not freeze at all and I did not have to fill up the feed this morning. There was still a ton of feed in the feeders so mystery solved. It was definitely the wild quail and doves eating me out of house and home. Speaking of which, I have a dove in my house somewhere. I woke up yesterday morning to my oldest son telling me there was a bird in the house. I figured he had brought in another chicken in the house but instead I walk out into the livingroom and the dogs have a dove trapped up on a book shelf. I tried to catch her a couple of times but I was doing more harm to her trying to catch her so I figured I would give her a break until my DH got home and after the boys and the dogs were in bed. Well by the time he got home she had disappeared so I figured she must have figured out a way back outside. Then 3am hit and I was woke up out of a dead sleep by all this banging in my closet. I had spent the whole evening watching TAPS on SyFY so of course I was freaked out and then I remembered the dove. So this morning I went closet searching and could not find her. I am going to have to do major spring cleaning just to find this dove. *LOL*

UPDATE: While I was typing this out I heard a bunch of ruckus behind the curtain in one of our hydro gardens and when I went to see what it was VIOLA I found, caught and released the dove back to the wild. YAY!
