Ahhh, gotta love those meaties! The body grows quickly, but the brain stays small. I used to confine the ones I grew to a horse stall (easy cleanup of the copious amounts of manure, no misadventure). They were eating machines that would fall asleep with their heads in the feeder! They weren't too pretty and had very little personality IMHO and with a flock of them (too many to name) it wasn't hard to deal with when it came to processing time....and on The Day (or anytime we wanted a chicken meal) I would walk into the stall, take a slow stroll around, and whatever meatie was a straggler or not willing to do a lap or two was "it." (Kind of like Darwin's theory...the slow ones got picked off) I would give each bird a nice little "destiny talk" as to how they did their job in life so well. But, yeah, no love lost. Sorry your flock o' future dinners took such a hit.
BTW, lots of folks think turkeys are dumb. Not so! Soon as they could wing it, they were out of the stall and up in the rafters....well, at least the bronze ones and the hens. The fat white toms were doomed..... (insert punch line here)
