Oh Saym - I am sorry about Tank

Some chick pictures from this morning – this is the current hatching batch – 7 out so far with 8 more to go (hopefully – two are pipped now).
The three little red chicks are bantam RIR/bantam Cochin cross. The rest are large fowl chicks – half Orp or better.

Sunny This tubby little chick is most likely Barbie’s son, so Obby’s grandchick. The only blacks are my big black Orp girls, so this hefty chick is from them (and Barb was still around when these eggs were put in the bator)

Someday I want to hatch some...That was a thought that ran through my head while I was wondering where all the girls were..was what breed could I get next???!!! Terrible, huh!
The girls are aokay today..8 eggs and they have their appetite back..life goes marching on.
For jeepers..we finished cutting up the venison today..and just out of curiousity I took some scraps out to the coop..you would have thought I had given them grapes! They were all scrambling..with Groana in a frenzy..I gave them two handfuls and they were ready for more..but easy does it...I still think you should at least try a little and see if yours react the same way?

As ive said before, i refuse to give my hens real meat (other than the occasional mouse) cuz in my mind it just seems wrong. idk why but i just dont like it. chickens are vegetarians!!! lol. Congrats on your 5 year anniversary! I couldnt have made it down tonight anyway since i went to the snowflake festival, so i guess it all worked out.

Maybe someday we could hatch eggs together huh?

Genny - your chickies are giving my chickie fever! I want to do some this spring with Olivia - Sunny & I are going to try to get some Marans. I am happy to report I am getting 1-4, yes 4, eggs per day! All are various shades of brown. I know 4 of the 6 are definitely laying, possibly a 5th. But I know the youngest Orp/Del (Chuck) is not laying yet. So no green eggs unless one of the Orp/EEs hasn't started laying yet. I also have to tell you how stable my little flock is. No fighting (an occasional, I'm badder than you are stances and feather ruffling) but they are soooo good. Cabo and Sassy team lead but very nicely and calmly. My dh is now calling me the "Crazy Chicken Lady"... I just love my chickens.

Sunny - looking forward to the cookie exchange! Olivia won't be coming she got an invite to go to a birthday/slumber party... but Taylor, my cookie baker, will be coming.

Hi all

I've been off of a while...you know the meaties Shanya and I have been raising? well those are not chickens, I have never seen a more nasty and dum animal, we lost several to drowning, they just walk in to the pond and drown. Never again will I do them! I am having a hard time thinking about eating some thing that is that grows

well we started out with 15 and are down to 4

On another note, I am looking for a Blue Cooper Mrans Roo. I am on the list for some Marans for this February, thank you Holly.

Someone called me about my ad for the ducks, and i gave away both of the hens! Now just to get a call for the 2 drakes. They are going to get lonely without any girls, and if Puff (Top drake) tries to get on a chicken hen it wont end well...

I'm so looking forward to the cookie exchange as well! Genny is coming and so is Heather (Humbrd). I think that's it for chicken folks but there are other folks coming too. I've already started baking for it. I have several dozen cupcakes I just filled and put in the freezer (don't worry they freeze very well and will be delish). I am making lots more this week since my brothers are coming and so is DH and I promised to bake stuff for them too. I also talked Genny into letting me do her baking since I love to bake and this gives me a chance to go all out!

Yes I know I'm showing off but nobody's perfect and I appreciate you all being so tolerant of me! It's just so hard to narrow it down to only 5 items! My house is still torn apart since we ran out of money and energy part way through the renovation but we still manage to entertain. I'm hoping the baked goods are so impressive you will all overlook the house mess!

BTW, lots of folks think turkeys are dumb. Not so! Soon as they could wing it, they were out of the stall and up in the rafters....well, at least the bronze ones and the hens. The fat white toms were doomed..... (insert punch line here)
