I'd heard different things from different folks when I moved here. You even get a different answer from everyone at the city that you talk to. So I finally tracked down the municipal codes myself. The codes state that you must keep your chickens on your property and that if you have more than 10,000 you must install a special waste system.

The real stinker in the law is that your animals (includes all fowl) must not pose a nuisance to any of your neighbors. When I called they said this means that if any of your neighbors complain and you can't correct whatever they are complaining about they can take your chickens away (probably why the no rooster advice). I bribe my neighbors with fresh eggs. I have 2 roos and they don't even mind them.

Anyway, welcome to the Nevada thread!

BTW I have extra ameraucana and EE chicks if you are looking for some. Several others on this thread also have different breeds they sell.

Peep_Show which eggs from Costco are fertile?

According to the TJ's Hatching Club thread the CostCo organic eggs have been turning up fertile.
Whole Foods has two brands that have had fertile eggs: The 365 brand and Nutrifresh Fertile.

I'd love to throw some in the 'bator just to find out and try it, but I am in the leastest of positions to have a slew o' chicks right now.

Not too bad but not great. I had 23 hatch but 2 died shortly after hatching. The rest never did. I still have the bator plugged in but since it is day 24 I don't expect any more to show up. I had 1 late bloomer hatch yesterday morning so I'm reluctant to unplug them yet but if nothing more shows by tonight I will call it quits. I had 14 sold so I really got more than I needed but when so many made it past the terrible fluctuations of the thermostat at 12-14 days I thought I was going to be home free.

I had better hatches in my cardboard box incubators. I got a new thermostat though that holds temps in 10ths of a degree instead of several degrees and I found the new flex tape heat sheets I had been hunting for so the next hatch should go much more smoothly.

How about your hatch? Did you lose them all to that terrible spike you had?
