Nevadans?

Does anyone know where I could get ahold of Afew bantam ameraucanas? I really don't want to mail order them after my last experience :/ also, does anyone have experience with them getting along well with silkies? Thanks in advance :)

I don't but hopefully someone else can help you find some.

I do have one bantam ameraucana male. I should try to get a picture of him for you.

I also have the two silkie crosses, a male and a female.

The bantam ameraucana, we named him Tar Baby when he was tiny as he was all black and so very small... anyway, he had been "feeling his oats" the other day and was harassing the silkie+ boy something terrible. Didn't hurt him, just wouldn't give him any peace, so I took him out and he's in his own little cage now awaiting a new home.

Do you want eggs? I have 2 chocolate hens in with a black roo and also a lavender hen in with them. I will say though that the bantams aren't as mellow as LF usually. I'm lucky that these are much better, but I got them from a great breeder. Eggs aren't quit there, but they should be much better under this roo and the chocolates are auto sexed!

I have yet to hatch any eggs... And one of my silkies just came down with wry neck, so I'm putting new chicks on hold until it gets warmer and these guys go outside. Silkies (atleast mine) are so high maintenance.. I'm constantly worried I'm going to find one dead every morning :/ ugh.

Hi! I'm here in Las Vegas. I need some ideas on a good coop design. I'm thinking the coop will be on the side of my house with a run. So, it's not a very wide space but I think it will work. Any suggestions? I'm just starting out with this and know nothing.
Thanks, Ricki

To bad you are not in Reno. I might have a very nice run available. I just got the idea to possible sell it from your post. I would have to pass it by my family since they helped build it. Sunny has seen it and it is built like a fortress. It would not be cheap though. I can't say at the moment what I would want for it I would have to figure it out. It is made of 4X4 posts with 2X6 or 2X8 walls from the ground up about 2 feet. the rest of each side are covered in 1/2 hardware cloth. Set this thing up right with a hardware cloth skirt at the bottom and not even mice can get into it. Overall it is a bit less than 6 feet wide and I think 24 feet long with one section being 12 feet wide. so it is like a room that then has a run extending off of it. Double door entry to help keep birds from getting out as you come and go and the outer door is a somewhat decorative steel gate. The doors that lead into each of the other 4 areas are also a steel frames covered with 1/2 inch hardware cloth. I have two of these on the run right now and the frames to make 2 more doors if you wanted them. It is 8 feet tall so no stooping and crawling around to get in there.
If you have seen my tobacco pictures you have seen the run in the background. I have it divided into three separate runs myself but it can easily be opened up to a single space or be divided into as many as 5 smaller spaces.

I can get a price figured out if anyone is interested but don't be surprised if I come back with something close to a grand. What I am going to do is figure out what it cost me to build it. and that is what I will want out of it. It is a tank and built like no other run I have ever seen. it has a full roof of corrugated steel. Plus I have the parts for a nipple watering system for the entire thing that I will throw in. I also have feeders and waterers to support the entire thing. All you will need to do is add your chickens. As is it sets against my shop so one 12 foot side is missing. that could be fixed with three 2X8's 12 feet long, one 2X6 12 feet long and the hardware cloth to close up the side. Or you can set it up against a shed. garage etc or build your coop along that and of the run.

PM me if you think you are interested. or just want to see it.

We adopted 3 hens from a local who needed to rehome them. Here is "Daffy", so named because when excited, she makes a duck noise. She is not a duck. She's a hen. But the former owners can't remember what kind of chicken she is. Does anyone have an idea what type of hen Daffy is? Bovans Nera ? Other?
