Sounds like a sweet setup Sunny, any pics? There was ice on the goat water this morning, is anybody cold yet?

and yes, I've had to break the ice on the dogs outside water every morning for the last couple of weeks when I've let them out.

I've been having to break the ice on the duck's water and her pool ebvery moring and it's like 3" thick

The duck/dog pool froze all the way though, so my sisters and slid on it for almost an hour before braking it. Sometimes its awesome to act like a little kid.

Our layer of ice hasn't been that thick! I can usually break the ice with a broom handle so it's only about an inch thick. Tonight and tomorrow night are going to be much colder though! I saw that Winnemucca will be below 0 degrees both nights, I'm glad I don't have to drive there now. It's supposed to get down to 16 degrees here in Reno. Probably a bit colder for you there in Fernley, G.H. (gaited horse).

It was a toasty 12 here this am.

Have been breaking ice for awhile. This morning it was almost 2 inches thick.

i can't compete with you guys up there, but i had 1/2" of ice in my small water bowl.. rofl...
okay... it's a plastic chip bowl from walmarts holiday isle, but the chickens took to drinking out of it when i used it one day for the dogs.. so i left it for them.. lol...
night before last it got down to freezing too, and i didn't know it was sposed to and it was the first night i left my 4 week old out there all night... they were alive and wanting out of their cage in the am... there are 6 of them, and they had a fleece blanket over their kennel.. and then last night they went into the banty's house on their own while i was at a scout meeting.. so i left them there.. they went in again tonight so i guess that's home for them now.. lol...

you guys up north keep warm and stay safe in the snow... post us pics...

Very, very windy up here this am. Was a sneaky morning - night temps were mild with light ice on the waters but after about 7am the wind kicked up with a cold punch. Brrrrr.



I know most will groan - but I wish for snow on Monday - even if it just melts by Tuesday. (Monday is my Birthday - I will be worth 2 Twenty year olds)
