I would worry more about the cat poop than the chicken poop. Our dogs eat so much poop – it would turn your stomach if I started a list

. Sorry he is feeling very poorly – is he eating/drinking? Gosh I hate to say it, but I know Parvo is going around in Reno – so if he has diarrhea I would definitely visit the vet. Have you taken his temp?

yeah, hes kept up on his shots, and i believe parvo is one of the vaccines. turns out he caught some kind of nasty stomache bug from drinking the river water (go figure). hes feeling better today though. good thing for the girls, too...theyre happy to have their backyard privilages back!

I got my silkie from auburn and she did just fine during the drive. i just made sure to use the a/c so they didnt get too hot

If your dog's stomache still isn't feeling better getting over this bug, you can give them a 1/2 of an adult dose, I believe 1 tbsp. It really helps with the runs and stuff. Had one of my goldens get into a bag of blood meal fertilizer and that was the only thing that helped.

Just wanted to let you all know that I finally have been putting out my babies in the new run. They are 5 weeks old. The coop just has a couple more things, but hopefully can put them in the coop Monday night. I put them out yesterday evening for 2 hours and then at 6am this morning and left them for 3 1/2 hours. The last time I checked them they all had their beaks open, so I brought them in. DH installed the misters this afternoon and they've seem to like it now. I've been giving them grapes from my garden and frozen watermelon and it's a lot of fun watching them eat! I also put ice in their water. This morning there wasn't a whole lot of shade on the East side, so I put some left over pallets around the perimeter on that side and gave them a nice amount of shade. Crossing my fingers that they'll be in the coop/run the rest of the week before I leave for vacation!

The girls did well during their first full day outside. I checked on them frequently and wet the ground in the shade a few times throughout the day. They are now tucked into their coop for the night. I look forward to letting them out in the morning for their second day of their new life outside.

The dogs are getting adjusted to the girls as well. The smallest dog charged the girls this morning. Their response (fluttering) scared him. After he built up some courage, he sneaked in for a quick sniff. Both girls promptly pecked him on the nose. He now gives the girls plenty of personal space!

lol, nooooo a v.w. fastback. i believe they came out before mustangs fastabck model

Okay, good. I was about to become rather agitated and upset.

Awwww, everybody's babies are growing up so fast. My #4s (the youngest group I have right now) are 14 weeks old now! On the plus side I am starting to gather up all the supplies I need to build a large incubator so I can hatch my own next year.

Aubrey it's good to hear that your dog is feeling better! Glad to hear eating poop is not going to hurt them.

Lacey, hang on to that car if you love it! I used to have a Plymouth Satellite that I loved and I still wish I'd never sold it! It's a nostalgia thing since the car was actually a lot of trouble. It had a powerful engine, a 383 V-8, and was super fast off the line but the cooling system was not adequate to handle the huge engine. The thing overheated on me all the time! It was also a 2 door and getting sleeping kids out of the back seat was no easy feat. Oh but the feeling when some idiot in a better looking hot rod car thought they could take my Satellite on!

I truly loved leaving all of them in the dust in just a few seconds.

Course it's probably a good thing I sold it. I'm usually a very conservative driver but there was something about that car and being challenged... Well, I'm sure I saved myself a lot of tickets by selling it.

Im happy everyone chickens are getting used to the weather. I put mine out in april when they were a month old with a heat lamp in case they needed it, and didnt give it much though. Now i feel bad. Theyre all going to get jealous and run to your guys's house.

Ya'll are talkin' about the hot weather while we're feelin' a cool and damp 65 o'r here on the homestead.
We went from the high 90's to 65

never know what the new morn will bring!
The heat had been a concern for me as well. We installed fans in both coops to circulate the air and wet down the runs.
Today they all need a sweater:lau
I'm thankful for the cooler weather because I planned on cleanin' out the garden henhouse for all the new birds we hatched.
The broody is settin' on 6 eggs....should be seein' them hatch in 2 weeks.
Had a successful hatch over the weekend....7 outta 7.....had to help them all cuz the membrane was stuck on every single one.

IF I EVER do the incubator thang agin I'll try uppin' the humidity a bit..... appeared that 40-45 % was a bit too low.
Truthfully I dont think I'm one fer the incubator stress

soooooooo I'm more inclined to let the broody hen do the job. :l

Chimin' in on the classic cars topic.....I had my eyes onna 55 Olds 98 Holiday.
Saw one at a car show in Vegas and it took my breath away!
Course havin' kids to raise took first o'r a classic car, and now we're in the middle of nowharz. Reckon a classic sittin' in the sagebrush would be right fittin'

I think the most interesting vehicle I ever saw was about 2 years ago - toodling up Pyramid Highway was the "Oscar Meyer Weinermobile"!!! I almost had a wreck taking pictures of it with my cellphone!

Laceynoelle-we are doing a road trip to Monterey, San Francisco, and No Cal. We're then heading to Oregon for Crater Lake and Portland. Might make some stops on the way home, but not sure yet. Thinking of stopping at Carson City and/or Virginia City.

BoulderCityFoul-how old are your chicks?

I've had them out for most of the day with the misters and they seem fine. They are just going nuts for my grapes and we keep giving them watermelon. Can you give them too much of those?
