I really would like to go to the show on Sunday. Depending on how busy it is around here I will most likely go just to see what they have. I always love seeing the different birds.
Garlic Update: I cut back on the amount, instead of doing a 3% ratio I cut it down to 2 tsp in the babies food and once the adult girls feed runs out I will probably cut them back to a 1% solution. I did not have much of a smell outside anyway but now I have none and the garlic is definitely not that noticeable outside but the chicken smell is completely gone.
Yesterday afternoon when I left literally only for an hour the first batch of baby chicks (the GLW & BA) started picking at each other. They picked one of the hens super bad and she is in a separate crate which is making her REALLY ticked off but with bone exposed I cannot put her in with anyone. I have no idea what caused them to start this in just an hour. They have plenty of room to run around in, outside, plenty of food, water, things to keep them occupied. It is just driving me nuts trying to figure it out. My Dad is teasing me that chicken tastes good to everyone and everything.
I have bag balm on everyone that was even slightly picked. Maybe a mouthful of that will keep them from doing it again. I guess it is time to break out the blood meal.
They spent their first night in the chicken coop last night. We finally got most of it finished and all of the brooding area finished. The kids have taken off with my camera but as soon as I find it I will post a few pictures. I just checked on them about 10 mins ago and they are all doing great and no picking since last night either. We are going to pick up a few of these today to put on the other side for heat for the little babies and see how it goes tonight with them out there. I am going to relocate the big girls in there today after I build their ramp.
Well the dogs have been fed are again content so I am headed back to bed for another hour before the boys get up. When your children no longer take naps and they are way too young to be left alone while you nap, any bit of sleep helps. *LOL*
