The bootie thing was tried successfully by "The Warden" who has Icelandic chickens and had a chick that was similarly affected. I don't know if she was dealing with a loose tendon, also.
I'm pretty sure your ShowGirl supplier didn't send you a lame chick and that this is probably a shipping injury. Hopefully it's just a strain/sprain, which means rest and keeping the chick quiet and as *inactive* as possible. (Yeah, good luck on that one!) Wolftracks use of the coffee cup sounds ingenious, but -- not knowing how big your chick is -- you may have to resort to a larger container.
