Let's see if these pictures work. These are my chicks that are 5 weeks old. They were hatched at the elementary school so I don't know what breed they are and I was hoping you guys could help me with their gender. Thanks.

I think Penguin's colouring looks more like silver-penciled but she is not a Wyandotte cause she has a regular comb not a rose. Well she could be part Wyandotte there are a lot of breeds out there with silver penciling nowadays.
I would have to see a better picture of Baby with her legs.

Again, Welcome to all of the newcomers!

Hatch Update: When all was said and done we ended up with 10 chicks out of 18 eggs. Big Mama is doing great taking care of them. I am going to keep them in the brooder for a bit, just until it starts warming up more at night and the babies are a bit bigger. Everything I have read says that Big Mama will wreak holy havoc with anything that tries to mess with her babies but I do not really want to test that theory out so soon. I would be devastated if I lost any of these little guys so soon.

I finally got some good pictures of all of the babies and the polish one. The polish baby usually ducks for cover as soon as I open the brooder door. But I was quick with the snapping.

Well, it's Kentucky Derby day and my selected-by-vibe racer Uncle Mo is a scratch after much speculation about his health (lingering GI bug). Poo!

So, IMHO, it's anybody's race and a longshot is as good as the favorite.... My runner (DH) is heading down to the casino to place my bets on Pants On Fire and Decisive Moment (the 7 and 5 horse respectively). In any event, whilst he's doing that I will venture out to the garden to gather some mint for the juleps this afternoon. Even though the race is questionable, the bourbon is not!

Have a fun and festive weekend, Everyone!
