Okay everyone - all I can say is WHOLLY COW! Bella is standing now, her toes are not curled anymore and she's still eating and drinking. I guess God said it wasn't her time. I'm now thinking if I hadn't gotten home when I did last night that she would have died but instead we were able to keep her going. The prolapse is gone - she got it back in and she's cooing again. I'm crying right now just typing this. I gave her more eggs and I'm going to get her her oatmeal and buttermilk in a bit but I had to let everyone know that she actually does have a chance here! I really can't believe what I'm seeing. I'm very thankful I didn't cull her last night like I wanted to, so if all goes well then we should see something very good happening if not then at least I tried as hard as I could.

Aubrey - Thank you for you! I really love your heart and soul in you!

Wish her luck please!

that's good news! I will be praying for her full recovery. and

to you. It's so hard when a pet is sick and hard to know what to do. Hope this night goes better!

Aubrey, I love you dear but please trust me on this one. She isn't going to make it for sure, her body is already in the shut down mode now. Her toes are curled and cold which means she does not have the blood flow to them, her feathers are falling off and she isn't steady at all even if she tries to move while sitting. She's only steady if she stays in one spot and does not move. I do not know when this happened because yesterday morning she was up and happy when I left for work, she wasn't when I got home. I've been through death several times now and this is part of it for sure. She was getting extra eggs too, we bought 3 dozen at the store to make sure they had the high protein and I did the buttermilk for the pro-biotics. Bella was eating like a pig too, she was taking big bites until Monday. I have no idea how long she couldn't get to the waterers, her feathers are all over the coop so we cleaned it all out and put sevin & DE everywhere in there. I'm now thinking I should also use oxine in there as well to make sure any fungi is gone if there is any but I doubt there is. I'm now in the place where I must make sure the ladies are okay and to help Bella pass.

I know what you mean about not being able to get the de-wormer and what really surprised me was the horse one I bought it at Wal-Mart for around $11.00. It's the Ivermectin that kills all the worms just like your cattle one.

Bella's comb is bright red now and not gray colored or purple. She's cleaning her feathers after her bath tonight and she won't lay down. She ate her oatmeal buttermilk really good tonight. She did have a bit of bile poo but I'm sure that was because she didn't have much food on Monday and part of yesterday. She didn't have any bile poo yesterday when I found her so I do know she was getting the right food in her. I'm hoping everyone does not mind if I tell you all what is going on with her during her recovery period? Even if she doesn't make it we might all learn a lot from this experience, I know I am.

Anyways, I'm very tired and am off to bed soon. Everyone have a good night.

Sheryl thats great news!!! Thank you for that, I was in a horrible mood, and that made my night. I hope Bella keeps on with her recovery!

I do as well! She's sleeping standing up right now, she just refuses to lay down. She did great with her bath as well and she had to fix her feathers before she would eat her oatmeal/buttermilk. We are not out of the wood by any means but we are making progress and believe me I really didn't think she would make it.

Good night everyone and I'm glad it's making your day but right now I'm really shaking my head and smiling. I really don't get it. But hey, we are not allowed to get it, we can learn from this and I'm still learning every minute. I can't wait to tell everyone at work tomorrow on how she's doing.

Aubrey, thank you for your very nice and warm PM today. It really made me smile after I read it and I knew I was about to post on here and you would get a big kick out of this. I know what you went through losing so many in July and you saving Petey as well. I'm going to worm them quarterly now that I know the garlic & DE is only a preventative for sure no matter what you read even when you read it from the USFDA website saying it works killing worms when in truth when you have a huge infestation like I had you better worm them with the poison and keep them healthy at all costs and use the natural way to prevent pests when you have the weeks and not days. So does anyone know how to get a sick little hen to sleep laying down so she can get more energy?

Thank you Elizabeth. I think of you as well during this and you going to get a new flock. You will have these ups and downs as well, they are not perfect but they sure do surprise you every day!

Have a good night.

Lacey - Thank you and I hope your day gets better tomorrow when you wake up. Usually I like to say to myself, I'm going to have a good day. The mean people are not going to win, I am stronger and I can stand my ground in a nice way. Hello to my good day! It should work and every time you get a bit stressed and bite your lip just say this again.

Sunny - You have a great thread here and I'm enjoying every minute of the day reading this thread. It really helps me get through the day at work too.

Ron - Thank you, if her attitude should change then I know she's not feeling well and I need to treat her. She was in this awful mood for so long I really thought it was just her taking over the flock but it wasn't. Bella pecked Monique because Monique pecked one of the girls who was trying to get on the roost. So that really told me she was feeling better and it wasn't really her it was because she was sick that caused her attitude.

Good night everyone and if I missed anyone I'm sorry and tired.

Ha ha ha! That's hilarious! My son just got a 49ers tattoo. He thought I would freak but all I said was "Are you sure you're going to like this tattoo forever?" He swears he will be a Niner's fan forever no matter how bad they "stink". He didn't plan on me seeing it but when he was visiting last and was ironing a shirt, he forgot about his tattoo and I walked in and saw it. After I made my comment, his girlfriend said "I thought you said she would freak?".

I swear none of my kids know me well at all.

I've even told the story of how I almost got a tat when I was a teen (and it wasn't as common then, for girls anyway). The only reason I didn't was because I couldn't find a design that I was sure I would love when I was 80. I'm really glad I didn't though. My tastes are soooooo different now than when I was young. They do have better lasers now for removal but it can still scar or leave a faint mark.

I'd still like to do the tattooed makeup thing though! That would be awesome!
BTW I'm kinda glad my kids see me as more conservative than I am! Some things they don't need to know about their Mom.

So I will ask you as well, "Are you sure you will like this tattoo in 60 years"?
