Well when I got home from today and let everyone out of the coop I noticed Monique's comb didn't look right. It's hanging sideways a bit. After looking at it closely it looks like she got it stuck somewhere inside the coop. The back end next to her little head is detached. It's black already too and there's nothing I can do to fix it. It does not smell at all but I'm going to watch it, she's not one who wants to be away from the flock so I'm not even attempting that unless I see issues tomorrow. She's not in pain at all when I touch it, she doesn't even flinch or move or nothing. Not sure what to do at this point except putting neosporin on it and wait to see if it gets infected and then I'll use the pen G or maybe some of your great anti-biotics you have Aubrey. I'll keep everyone updated. Here's another new one for Sheryl. I think she injured it on the feeder but I'm not sure. The feeder I have has those things that doesn't let the food spill and it was moving a bit today like it was loose. It's the only thing I can think of.

Thanks, I was thinking it was going to fall off. At first I was blaming DH thinking maybe he didn't take care of the chickens while I was gone and she got frostbite. And then I came to my senses and said now hold on, frostbite happens from the top down this is at the end of her comb next to her head now it's not frostbite so don't even go there.

I hugged my DH and told him thank you and he said what for and I said for being you.

She has a little bit of blood that shines but that's it. This must have happened first thing this morning.

Poor Mama! I imagine it would be best to just let her own natural oils distribute through her feathers again. Any vegetable oil would attract dirt really fast!

Genny if that stuff is good for awhile then I would like some too. I want to treat mine when they "come of age".
