That shed's an excellent deal for $40!

$350 for 2-6 hens, $600 for the larger size... It's a very simple design, and you could get odd-length or discarded wood from HD or Lowe's for reduced cost. I think it would be cheaper to just build it. Anyone else?

Luckily my husband grew up on manual labor. I did too, but I'm the artistic one and he's the logical one. He was expected to learn that kind of thing, and I semi-learned it because I was my dad's substitute son. We have a lot of donated materials here, and as soon as we can get the framing 2x4s (after year-end bills) we're going to build a 20-hen coop for the ladies. More chickens! He's going to help me with the framing, then I'll do the rest and paint a nice little mural on the side.

We built a few extra planter boxes the last couple of years... this year from donated "my fence blew down" used lumber, and last year from odd-length but new 2x4s. We got the 2x4s almost half-priced because they were about an inch too short. Fine with us! We filled them with a mix of Nevada dirt, kitchen waste for compost, and leavings from a client's horses, and the food grew great in it!

That has to be the all to time, best find on CL!!! We got an 8x10 shed from my parents a few months ago for my polish and I still giggle when I can go in the door, stand up straight and clean and feed! You're gonna love it!!!! Good for you Aubrey!
