Nevadans?

Good to know. Steve loves carrots. The only way I like them is fried tempura style.

OK, I have you down for a few cantaloupe, egg plant, mortgage lifter and some leeks. Leeks are fantastic! Add a wonderful mild onion flavor to dishes without the tearing up or allergic reaction of an onion. Have to slice in half lengthwise (after cutting off roots) and soak then separate leaves and swish and rinse to get all the dirt out though. I plan to grow them in a sand free soil to make cleaning them easier. They are ridiculously expensive in the stores!

Same with shallots! But so cheap and easy to grow yourself, but soooo expensive to buy. My son really likes to take green shallots and put them in gourmet macaroni and cheese.

Ok, for you I have fairytale eggplant and sugar pumpkins. Then, if you want, some of my taters when they come in. Mailing the seeds would be a lot easier than using the gas to meet, unless you're going to be in the area. Which sounds good?

This is so much fun to read everyone swapping out their seeds. I do have italian green beans if anyone wants them? They are the pole type and will work great with the 3 sisters type of planting. I'm going to that this year but with zucchini as well with pumpkins. I can't wait to see how the corn will come out this year.

The beans last year were very prolific. I planted 100 beans and the all came up. I was able to put away more than 50 pounds of beans for the winter. We have them 1 day a week and we really love them. I have pumpkin too, they are the sugar type but they're not little. Most of them weighed just over a pound and a couple weighed over 5 pounds and 1 weighed 20 pounds. I have a lot of pumpkin in the freezer for pies, bars and cheesecakes.

The best tomatoe I found is the Celebrity, they don't stop producing until it gets really cold and I had so much. I made my sauce, canned over 30 qts, freezed some whole and made what ever I could with them throughout the week. They are one of the most tastiest tomatoe out there.

I do butter lettuce and endive. I ordered some more from Italy. I really like how they grow here. I also do chard but I buy the plants so they get an earlier start than with seeds. I also buy the varied colored ones. Believe it or not but there is an italian dessert we make with chard. It has so much stuff and yet it so good.

You guys are all my gardening heroes. I am really striving for gardening success this year. I just need to stick with it and follow through on my plans. I would love updates on what you all are doing in your gardens so I can copy you

Missy, question on the global buckets... In the hottest part of summer, how often did you have to refill them with water?

Oh, and I made lamb tagine today with our local lamb. It was really good. My son loved it. My daughter didn't want to try since she thinks lambs are too cute to eat. So I said it was donkey and she tried it.

She didn't want more but at least she tried it. I don't force feed my kids but they do need to try new foods. Missy, do you have any recipes that would be good to use for the center loin?

If the plant is huge with a full root ball (like an indeterminate tomato) and is producing a lot of fruit, I have to water almost every day. I just take a bucket of water out to them and fill as needed, going to get more water if necessary. The cool thing, though, is that all the water is being used by the plant instead of evaporating.

I see, so it's a much more efficient use of water.
