Nevadans?

I can often taste the specific spices and recreate it at home but it may take me a couple of tries to get it right. There are some dishes I can't do this with and it drives me crazy!!!

I know, right? I make Thai food all the time, but I can really only say it's "Thai influence." I've researched so many recipes, and still cannot figure out how to get a red curry to be that perfect consistency! Does anyone have a traditional Thai friend who can come over for a month and show me all her secrets?

aubrey that itch is already spreading and you don't ever know it

Do they make a cream for that?

Today, one of my clients brought over about 10lbs of fruit for me. I was almost caught up. But I'm not complaining. NOT complaining. More food to go into the storage room!!! But there is an end in sight... no matter how much fruit gets piled up, there's no way any of this is going to last past the end of September.

Speaking of something silly, I have a couple of funky little cochin brahma somethings. So far, both Pot and Pie are acting like pullets. They have reddish feathers, lightly feathered feet, and one of them is growing brahma markings on her neck. I'm not sure exactly what they are... other than chickens.

Hi there. Sorry, I was very busy the last few days. I'm going to get used to this busy thing more often as well.

Missy, yes, I shall be over tomorrow. John's off as well and will be with me.

Amanda laid her first egg today and she did it in the box. She was so cute. I figured she would be the first since she was really acting like she was almost ready. Well this morning she wouldn't come out of the coop. I had to take her out. She went back in at 1pm and stayed there, after she did this every loud egg song in there, then Mo went to see what she was doing and she left. She came to me and I put her back in there and less than an hour later she was out of the coop and this teeny tiny little itsy bitsy egg was in the nest box.

Leroy's crowing now but it's only 4 short ones in the morning. They're a bit pathetic right now, sorta like a clock that needs it's batteries changed kinda of thing.

This morning when I let the birds out Lacey came up to me so I bent down and scratched her little chin. Well, Leroy didn't like that and he came over with the side of his neck feathers just a little bit extended and his wings out to look bigger. I just stood there watching him as he stared at my foot. Well before I knew it he actually bit my foot but at the same time Bella came a flying and landed on him. Boy did that scare him to death. She wouldn't stop chasing him. He's no longer allowed to even come near me. Bella, Sylvia and Wynnie stays right up with me. I did end up challenging him to let him know I was over him and he did turn and leave first. I just bent over him and pointed my fingers at him and told him he will not be over me. I think the neighbor enjoyed watching me as we was watering his backyard. I saw him smile and shake his head. It's a good thing he loves my birds.

Since 7pm I have been trying to get pics to load. I had 5 pics up of the laying flock (Pam, Candy and Kim's birds) and was trying to squeeze in another...

I guess I got greedy cause it froze and somehow while I patiently tried to get it to unfreeze... Yep you guessed it. I lost the whole post! I'm about to admit defeat!!! I can't take it anymore! You all need to come up here and see the puppies, the laying flock and the coop for yourselves! :(

Ok, perfect! I did add in one more client, starting at 1pm (they usually get here 15 minutes early) but if you're still picking grapes, I more than trust you to run around my yard unsupervised. I won't even have to remind you not to stand on the rocks in my pond or chase the chickens! Lol sorry... the last friend who picked grapes has 4 kids that are very well behaved for their ages, but one has a touch of ADHD and they've all never been around poultry. Thank goodness their parents have the "it takes a village" mentality and didn't mind me chastising their children when they broke the rules.

I'm going to be up making bread soon, so anytime between now and 12:45 is perfect. If you can't make it during that time, text me, and I'll give you directions which gate to come through so you can come over while I'm working.

Your little barnyard is a lot more dramatic than mine! The most we get here are a few pecks from wyandottes, fluffiness from whoever decides to be broody, and a mama hen trying to fight through the cage bars. Oh, and a really dumb brabanter who likes to hang out on the top of the coop, where she could very easily fly out of the yard, but is too dumb to realize there's life outside the fence.

I can't imagine how frustrating this has been! Can you email them to me? Maybe one at a time. Then what you want to post and I'll do it for you.

I have to share this story with you guys (I shared it on the CA Northern so if you read it there, sorry for the double post)
My 4 yr old granddaughter, Layla and I were checking out the chicks in the barn and one of my EE's was waiting in line to lay her egg.

She finally got her turn and I said out loud that I hoped she was OK, she seemed to be having trouble laying her egg. Layla says "maybe she needs a book". I laughed so hard! These kids keep me smiling!

I feel like putting a sign on my door that says, "The first egg is hard for everyone. Thanks for your patience." Not that anyone has complained... but pullet #5 just laid her first egg yesterday, and spent a couple of hours working up to it. I think the only people that really noticed were the guys reroofing the house next door.

BTW, your EE is sooo pretty! I'd like to add another EE to my flock, but I don't want the standard dual-mustard coloring.

Thanks, she's from a Light Brahma and my EE Roo. I have a lot of colorful chickens in my EE's and none of them are dual-mustard. I have a new one from her that is such a cutie! I know she's hers because she has feathered legs and the chicken in the pic (Ms Bossy) is my only chicken with feathered legs. Another from her that's about 3 months, looks like a Silvered Pencilled Rock.

Some of my best recipes have come from restaurant dishes I loved. I can often taste the specific spices and recreate it at home but it may take me a couple of tries to get it right. There are some dishes I can't do this with and it drives me crazy!!! Like how does the The Outback make that broccoli soup of theirs?

If you google "Outback Broccoli Soup Recipe," you'll probably come up with the particulars. There's a lot of deconstructed restaurant recipes out there. I love the Olive Garden's chicken gnocci soup and got the recipe via Google....except I use smoked chicken in mine. MMMMMMMM!!
