Nevadans?

Aubrey came and got Gunda and Synneva last night. i know they will have a good life over there but i will miss them. I need to post the craigslist for a couple of other hens and then we'll see how the noise factor is.

congrats! it's a satisfying feeling, isn't it?
How's the sinus infection? :(
I'm doing a lot better, thanks. Things are clearing up and the s. boulardii probiotic is doing it's job and my digestive system is a-okay.
Thanks! In about 1 hour, I will be DONE DONE DONE DONE with plums! I got 8 @!%* gallons of plum puree from 2 trees outside my back door. 2 gallons went to a friend, after I had everything I needed for recipes, and all of those recipes were quadrupled. We don't need plum products for a few years. I made plum jam (AWESOME on homemade yogurt), plum chutney for our Indian food nights, and a steak sauce with plums, apples, and peaches that is better than Heinz 57. Sooo good.

But today while getting some apples from the stash we picked last week, I noticed that the ones that had blemishes were starting to turn. Ok, apple products are coming up next week.
congrats on all your plum products! So, a neighbor gave us a bag of green apples. Any ideas on what I could do with those?

Yep and Markie doesnt regret it ONE BIT! he loves them! Says theyre very pretty and friendly. Gunda squatted for him which is something we dont get anymore now that we have multiple roosters and I think it was a nice feeling for him to remember the old days of before Porkchop, Mr. Pants, and Gregory Peck, haha.

Well I debated with myself on whether or not to tell you guys this, But I suppose in the long run it would be best anyhow.

I am now a closed flock. No more birds in and absolutely no birds out. Yesterday morning when i let the girls out i noticed more than a few were sneezing. Didnt think much of it as it is getting really dusty in there and its time for a coop clean out. However by last night when I went to lock everyone up all but maybe five or six birds were gurgling, gasping, and wheezing with nasal discharge. Ruby has a swollen eye. So this time it is actually real and I am certain they have caught something MAJOR. Spent 45 minutes last night administering Tylan50 injections to each bird. Today everyone seems okay but I understand the injections need to be done for five days to ensure they will work.

Fortunately Elizabeths birds have been separated so I can get them going on some preventative measures, unfortunately I cannot in good faith return them to prevent them from getting sick as they have been on my property. I am really sorry Elizabeth but I promise that they will be okay.

I have a few ideas of how this happened, but in the end it is truly my fault for getting too lax and not protecting my pets better. I am going to get them through this at any expense, and for the safetly of everyone elses birds I just ask that no one come by anymore. I would be devistated if it happened to anyone else.

That being said, I am really not that traumatized by the whole thing and the scare we had a few months ago actually prepared me mentally for something like this. Its made up my mind about my sultan breeding program which will not exist. I am looking to Missy for advice, and for some encouragement that eventually they will all feel better and go back to their happy bouncy selves.

Very sorry, Aubrey! I know if I walked in on that I would be terrified. I'm glad they are doing better.

Very nice Missy!! Please give us the steak sauce recipe so we can use it too. I bought a 1/4 beef and it will be here in about a month and this sounds like it would be great with it.
