I got my first mail order batch today. All (save for one duckling) were super energetic and friendly almost right out of the box.

I’ve read hat I should hold off on the hand holding and cuddles for a couple of days. I wonder if that’s only if they seem traumatized and stuff.

I really want the ducklings to imprint and have my chickens come to me (I have other chickens, but not so friendly although some will eat out of our hands now).

Any thoughts on next steps and how soon is too soon? I’m not a patient one. Lol.

Be sure to get some Poultry Nutri Drench into them. Also, give them a plug of sod from an untreated lawn, but I like to wait until they are eating their chick crumble well. You will want the multi flock starter instead of chick starter, be sure it has a recent mill date (which you will find on the paper tape at the bottom of the bag) Feed which is over 6 weeks old is on it's way to becoming rancid and loosing nutrients.
