I set mine on 5-15 so I am on day 10--I candled today a few of them--to feed my addiction but not bother them all! I set 23 and I am down to 18. In several of my eggs I could see the babies moving around. I have one where I can see development but the chick does not seem to be moving. I am keeping a spreadsheet of notes--who knows why--so I will candle again on day 14 and 18 to see what is going on!

Well I can't help any because I will tell you you can see something at day 3!!! I am totally addicted to candling though!!!! Of course if you don't see anything then don't give up.

I tried candling last night..I think I saw stuff but not really sure..plus not sure what I used was efficient ...so I'm going to just ride it out with my 22 eggs! Are you planning lock down on the 1st or 2nd?

My first hatch I had no idea what I was looking at and just left all eggs in there. Then I studied pictures here and other places ... https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...g-candling-pics-progression-though-incubation and have candled my eggs this time more often to try to figure it out. I use a very dark room and a small bright flashlight and my hand.
