New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Bruno looks huge on the photos and compared to the hens. Of course he is the only one standing. Hopefully he will straighten out very soon as I want to see what their chicks would all look like. Is he beating Bash up at all?

He is huge, larger than Bash. Bash is tall, as you can see in the photo of him at the feeder, but he's not as broad, nor are his comb/wattles as "manly" as Bruno's. Bruno's hormones are really raging. He's still scared to death of Hector, thankfully. If he bulks up and ceases to be afraid of Hector and still has an attitude with us, he will need to find a new home. Hopefully, he won't earn a place in someone's crockpot.

Hey Cyn - Here are the babies you made me get by showing all your beautiful guys growing up! This is "Dash," if you don't mind me copying you. The others don't have names yet. All enjoyed a bit of time out in the world today.

@Sjisty, good looking kids there. And I like the name "Dash". My guy's actual name is Sebastian so Bash is really his nickname, but I had to have a name or nickname that started with "B" for my "B"rahma theme.

At 23 weeks, 3 days old, Bash found his voice this morning. I saw him do it. Had just said to my husband less than five minutes previous while watching Bruno try to imitate a Longcrower, that Bash did not crow. Well, now he does. He was sitting on the long roost bar, raised up, flapped his wings, screeched, lost his balance and almost fell off, LOL. Hector, my BR cockerel, hearing a new voice in the barn, freaked out and began his alarm cackle. I had to go in and calm him down, silly thing. He's the second oldest to crow ever. The oldest was the original Stukel BR male, Rex, who crowed at 25 weeks old for the first time.

Bash is very calm, more easygoing than Bruno. Yesterday, he was the last to leave the roost. I went to him and ran my hands down each side of his body with him facing me. He was just as calm as could be. So, then I lifted him up and set him onto the floor. Such a good boy. I hope he stays like that. Bruno is gorgeous and huge, but his hormones are really running his brain at the moment. I'm waiting for his brain to catch up before I call it true aggression. He has not flogged, only bitten and tried to intimidate me. Clock's ticking, Bruno.

Can you tell that Hector is trying to be a good boy now? He did come out of his pen all antsy and jumpy this morning and made me a little nervous for a second or two, but I think that's because he was impatient for his girls to come out. I'm going to have to go back to making him wait for them to go out first before he shoots out the door and makes a mistake we'll both regret. He didn't do anything bad, but he was a bundle of energy until the girls followed him out. I shooed him down the aisle and out the door and he was fine.

Bash is a doll so far. If I had to let Bruno go, I'd sure miss seeing his big, gorgeous self but I'd still have my Sebastian, who has turned into a very handsome guy as well.

Caught these marauders on my game camera download, along with the rabbits and deer. (the deer are back, yea! Smoke is much less from the local fires lately, so maybe that's why).

The beauteous Sebastian.
