New Brahma Group: Blue Partridge x Partridge, Plus Dark

Pics
Bonnie is trying to go broody on me again already! She's screeching and clucking and her chicks are not quite 8 weeks old yet. Found her sitting on four eggs, guarding them. When I took them away and put her on the roost, she went right back to the empty nest.

She rejected her chicks just 3 weeks ago. She may be one of those perpetual broodies.

I would be concerned because she still has not gained all her weight back.

Looks like a regular Partridge, but you're right, some of her feathers look blue. Could be her under plumage though. Cute, either way. :)

Thanks! She was confusing me a little. She does seem more like a regular partridge, then I see a bluish tinge and am back to being uncertain again.

The only way I ever stopped a broody is to put her in a different pen or a small cage by herself.

I've never been able to break one up that was really determined. The half-hearted ones are easier. Just have to figure which one she is.

Boy, you always have tough Ones! If I don't look at her feet, I would say not blue, but those foot feathers . . .

Lol..I don't let mine hatch. They always seem to crush the eggs.

Well, the first two broodies did great, no crushed eggs. I have one Barred Rock hen, or I did (she passed away a year ago), that I called Bigfoot. She always would crush at least one egg. Those Stukel line hens are hefty!

Yeah, that's me. Guess she'll have to get some tail feathers and then, we'll all know!
