New BYC Auction System - Want To Buy A Chicken (Just A Test)

Will it have a "buy it now" option like on Ebay?

I think the auction system will be great--don't get me wrong--and I'm sure Rob probably has a good reason, but...an auction just isn't going to work for me most of the time if I'm selling birds. Eggs, cool. But birds...sometimes I have a pair or trio that would be fine to sell via auction, but more often than not I have several chicks or birds that aren't being sold as one lot (as in, I have some chickens and people come pick the ones they want from the lot). So I wouldn't be able to post them here in that case, and that's a bummer.

Anyway, I'm super excited about the auction system, I'm just a little sad to see B/S/T go away.

YES, I understand what you are saying. Yes, I agree. That is the first thing I thought of also.

I dont see where that would be a problem. If you have 6 green orphington chicks that you want to sell, you would just list it by a single chick, such as Green Orphington Chicks Available, and start the auction as a per chick price. Then you can put in the auction how many are available, and the buyer can buy as many as they want at their final bid. Or you can list the chick at Buy it Now, or Best Offer. Sounds like theres a million ways to use this system.

So we wont be able to just sell something out right? As in..if I want to sell a chicken book, I have to have it as a auction? I wont be able to say Im asking $5 and sell it to the first person who wants to buy it? I'll have to make it for highest bidder?
