New BYC Auction System - Want To Buy A Chicken (Just A Test)

Not 100% true. The staff as a group decide on almost everything and I rarely make any decisions without their buy in (and sometimes they yell at me and tell me to just make a decision). We also take all feedback into consideration and appreciate it if given in the right tone. We may not always agree, but we do listen.

That's helpful. So, my follow up to you: How many listings do you guys think you make every month on average?

This is the whole reason why I became a GFM, so I could see what's going on before you drop the bomb

For me, it depends on the time of year. One question I would have is would the limit be per forum (other poultry, chicks and chickens, hatching eggs) or as the BST section as a whole? I have several different breeds/species of birds, and do almost all my selling on here. This summer, I was probably listing quail eggs twice weekly, with button quail eggs once every 1-2 weeks. And that's only because most of my goofy chickens are broody

Then I also have ducks and guineas. In the spring I listed hatching eggs from all of them (chickens, ducks, guineas, coturnix and button quail) at least once a week. So this 4 times a month thing, even if it is per-forum, would seriously hinder me. I do sell some on ebay, but mostly sell here.

So I just read thru all the post and I can not find any where that it talks about how payments will be done and monitored. We sell on Ebay and everything has to go thru Paypal on our auctions - no moneyorders or checks. How is this going to work here? PayPal offers buyer and seller protection if you buy it thru an approved Site. Also is BYC going to monitor the "bad boys"? People who bid but do not pay, people who pay but never get their shipped to them etc etc??? We get a lot of scam email everyday and I would hate to be taken? Also have you seen Eggbid lately? That site has been taken over by the scammers.

I don't see how it would be any different from now. You can take payment any way you want. And I don't see why the mods would have to monitor it any more than they do now. If you sell eggs or buy eggs the risk is all yours.

Exactly! Payments are between buyer and seller.

BYC Staff will not (as is currently the case) be involved in transactions between members. It is the responsibility for buyer and seller to be careful, check history, and do their homework.

Yes, at the end of a transaction the seller and buyer can give each other feedback. There is currently no way to comment on feedback someone gave you.

No, there is no way to stop certain buyers from buying. If there are issues, we expect they will be rare and the staff will probably need to be involved. We doubt there will be too many issues with this since we'd ban any members abusing the system.

Limits will be across all forums.

We've done a lot of statistical analysis and, pay close attention here folks, exactly 98.77% of ALL current sellers will not be impacted by the limits we're planning to put in place.

Yes, some non-GFM members will have to upgrade to GFM to continue to post the same # of listings they are posting now, but with a GFM being only $2.00 a month (or less) we think that's a steal.

The only reason eBay makes you accept PayPal is because it is there site & they get paid both ways. The scam is eBay but unfortunately I haven't found a better place to sell until I started selling here. I have done pretty good here & I am able to sell a lot cheaper here. For example The same plucker I sell here for $20 I have listed for $30 on eBay to cover expenses.
