And even if the rhode island white did come from the rhode island red, a lot of real fanciers would probably not call it a real one because of the out-cross to create the color. Just as many do not call the white sumatras "real sumatras" and believe only real sumatras are black.

I ment to say that they were derived from different breeds, but the fact still remains that when creating a new variety in a particular breed, that wasn't or couldn't be created with the current varieties, once they meet APA standards, they are a variety of the original breed, not a new breed of their own. Many of the varieties that are recognized today in many of the breeds were created by out-crossing to a different breed. And Daniel, do not feel you have to dumb it down, I understand poultry. But everyone on here acts like they have no clue what I am talking about, when in reality, I know that those who are commenting on my comments know what I mean.
