new coop begun-two years later and we're still working on it

Not really. My husband found that the framework does shift around a little bit so when he cuts the triangular panels he sometimes has to jiggle the frame a bit so that everything is lined up. The frame is not yet attached to the base. I'm really happy with the way it is looking! I was working on the duck pen while he was working on the coop. We've made great progress with the past two weeks of sunshine here in CT.

Looking good!!!!

Thanks! Got the duck pen finished today and moved them outside, oh happy day! So I hope to get copies of plans out to those I promised them to.

Hey Kristin I just found your post and wanted you to know that your coop looks great so far! I love the design and shape of it! Congrats on moving the ducks outside, I know I was happy when ours moved out

You guys are a bad influence. I just had a cunning plan

I might build one and use hardware cloth on one side like someone suggested, and build shutters for the winter. Then i'd have to find some more birds to put in it

It would probably make a great doghouse too for people with pet mooses like us, with a doggy door for access.

Thanks! More siding going up as I type. (Obviously DH is the coop builder around here! Although I did construct much of the ducks' pen.)
Yeah, I'm thrilled that Spotty and Quackers are outside. A lot less cleaning to do. They are even happier than I am. I was worried when the temps dropped so much last night but they don't seem to mind in the least. They were swimming when I left for work and it was barely above freezing. Once they get those feathers in there's no stopping them. They still have identical tails. One is quacking and one is peeping. So still no idea what genders we've got! Plenty of room for a pair of Khaki Campbells still....

Hey, Henrietta, any more progress since your last post? The starplate design has me intrigued; looks like something that even I could put together...plus it looks cool!

Sort of. Truck is fixed (new alternator) and more siding purchased. One more panel up and two windows in but not yet trimmed out. Lately every time DH has time to work on it is raining. We're making it a priority though. We've now got 14 chicks in the house growing rapidly and they'll need somewhere to go soon. The three roos in the basement especially and the stray dominique we just brought home who is living in a dog pen in the garden shed. Aaaaah! I need a coop NOW!

Almost all the siding is up. Windows are in and just need to be framed. He's working on the door now. Tomorrow hopefully will be a trip to Home Depot for some roofing supplies to start that. I hope to start moving some of the birds before two more weeks are up.
