Okay, didn't know thatHens breed other hens too so anything is a possibility..
Make sure to not to give them a "fake" or "non-flush" type of niacin. Peas are REALLY good if they'll eat them. Do they have access to water? You can try putting the peas in there with them to try and catch, if they understand what to do since they haven't been around open water by the sounds of it. On (or under a little) their breast, usually to the right a bit, you should feel a "choppy" consistency in a ball shape if they are eating the food you provided them. That's their crop. I think it's easier to feel if you feed them crumbles but not necessarily. Also, you can sprinkle some Brewers Yeast on their food and mix it around to help give them niacin and other vitamins. My duckling doesn't care for it, but it seems to help. Also, molasses in their water will help give them minerals and vitamins. Even B-Complex crushed tablets to make powder, powder, or liquid form is a good source of needed nutrition. And any treats they should go crazy after, unless they never got that they're skittish and wary of it at first, but should come around eventually. Tomatoes and black raspberries are my duck's favorite, but watermelon and strawberries are also good ones. Make sure to give them grit from a store, or if they have access to ground and a run area they'll be able to get it on their own. I'm not sure what to do about angel wing, I'm sorry but @Miss Lydia should be able to help you, she's very knowledgeable. With the leg...my duck is handicapped and is about 5 months old. What you have there is a roughly 4 month old Pekin duckling...could you ask how long the leg has been like that, or if whoever caught him/her accidentally hurt it right then and there? Miss Lydia might have more helpful information than me, but good luck!Do you have an example of how I'm to tape them? I'll give the new ducks Niacin tonight.
Wait, is angel wing a joint thing? That probably sounds super ignorant but seriously, my knowledge of ducks is nill.https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/angel-wing-treatment.1252014/
I would give her niacin just in case, but sometimes they just sort of sprain their hip and limp for a few days. Hopefully it's nothing serious.
I wouldn't bother trying to wrap for the angel wing personally until she molts. When they lose those flight feathers they all come out at once so you will notice they are missing.
Then I would Wait for a few days until they start to grow out a little bit. It's really hard to hold those little feather quills in the correct position for wrapping before they start growing out.
It may or may not work depending on how much flexibility she has in that joint. If that joint seems fused it might be painful for her. If that is the case I would just leave it be.![]()
I have no idea how she was caught. I know the golden 300 was caught by her wings.Vet wrap is cheap and widely available. Our Runnings has it, or it’s on Amazon.
I’m wondering whether the seller’s hubby might have caught the duck by her legs? Their legs are delicate. It’s nice that she could walk once her buddy showed up. Maybe it’s just a temporary ouchie.
In addition to the other things suggested, you can also give them brewers yeast for niacin. Your feed store may carry it.
She is a roughly 4 month old white crested. Not Pekin. What you have there is a roughly 4 month old Pekin duckling
